Ok so i wanna be able to hold handstands for a fair amount of time but at the moment the most i can hold one for is like 3 seconds. I mostly work on my leg muscles so i can jump higher etc so i don't know much about arm muscles etc.

So basically what muscles do I use in a handstand and how can i improve them?

And how can i increase my balance once i have improved my muscles?

edit: oh yea so i can learn au batidos

You don't need to be able to handstand to au batido. To get better at handstands, practice handstands.

yea clearly but i am that terrible at them so i want to work on my muscles first.

Chances are you just need to get familiar with yourself on your hands. Don't over complicate this. Just do handstands.

If you really want to get stronger in the supporting muscles then you'll find a clever way to do it.

Just do handstands like everyone else has been saying. Like you, I couldn't hold them very long a few weeks ago and I got bored and started practicing them. Now I can hold them for about thirty seconds.

Just practice and you'll get better rather quickly.

should i do it against a wall? some things ive read say you should but some say you shouldnt because it makes u lean into the wall and then when you try to do it without the wall you lean and fall over ?

Do both. Holding against a wall is good for conditioning etc... but won't do much for your balance.

reverse climb wall (stomach facing wall)
tap legs off wall once comfortable, attempt to hold handstand as long as possible

repeat until you're good at handstands

focus on tight form: squeeze your butt, don't let your back arch, keep your head in, keep your feet together

time and effort, baby

You dont need that much strength to handstand, its mainly balance.

Just keep doing handstands, your balance will slowly improve, as will arm strength for them
