But I don't know if its a good one or not.

The fee is $55 dollars per month, takes a little less than half an hour to get there, hour long, and 2-4 times per month (my choice). First 15 minutes is lots of stretching, including mostly legs of course. Doing splits, leg lifts, push ups and the regular static stretching. Afterwards we practice forms, can't remember ~exactly what they are called but we do that... Practice on punching bags after that, then we sometimes spar.

I've only been to two so far, but I'm not sure how to tell if it is a 'quality' place. I just know that as long as it improve my kicks it's good enough for me, but I also don't want to be overcharged. Oh, and the instructor knows about Tricking, which is a huge plus. Any thoughts?

TKD is useless, do mixed martial arts...and why should we care if you found a tkd place anyway??

540ninja, mixed martial arts is for absolute faggots. he clearly doesn't give a shit about fighting so TKD would win for actually teaching you how to kick properly.

now FUCK OFF

you do realize that mixed martial arts isnt a style right?
its called "mixed" martial arts for a reason. tkd is often one of the styles used
and the op wanted to know if he found a good place to train, no need to be an ass about it

to the op - that sounds like a shitty place. almost 60 bucks for only 4 sessions a month max, and the sessions are only an hour long? i take it at my local community college, its 20~ dollars for the class, a little more with the registration fees. but its a one time fee each semester, and the teachers arent concerned about money, they teach because they want to teach

i have the option to go twice a week, and the class is 2 1/2 hours long. theres a 30 min warm up, then about an hour of drills/target hitting and conditioning, 30 mins of sparring and the last 30 mins we work on learning forms

tkd gets a bad rap because there are so many schools out there that are all about making money, and not about quality instruction.

Ahahah! YES!

Anyways, mmm for that price I honestly doubt it's worth it.

How can you not care about fighting? and i agree thats the biggest waste of money, there are places by me that have quality instuction and cost the same, but you can go everyday if you wanted, and the lessons are about 2 hours long.

i did not know you were taking this for tricking(that would be my only reason)

And how is learning more than one fighting style for faggots? I wonder

Oh whatever, people act like MMA actually takes any sort of Martial Arts applicable form or technique or skill.

It's just throwing random punches here and there and possibly a crappy round kick every now and then.

mma training is also not applicable to real world situations. take bjj for example. okay so you get into a street fight, and you take the dude to the ground and get him in some kind of choke. now his buddies come and stomp on you. you lose

he was talking about improving his kicks, and TKD would be ideal for that so stop being such a fucking bellend

How can you not care about fighting?

it's called not being a tool

And how is learning more than one fighting style for faggots? I wonder

there's nothing wrong with that in itself but studies show that 99% of MMA fighters happen to be complete fags

So yeah I screwed up, 2-4 times per week. I pay $55 per month. And yes like I said I'm doing it to improve my kicks...for tricking. Of course.

I don't know though, it might not be 'authentic' but meh. More thoughts since I edited please?

They should honestly let you in there whenever you want.

I have a membership for a huge beautiful regular gym, it's only like 21 a month, and I get totally unlimited access. Those guys at whatever dojo that is are extortioners it seems.

So it seems. Hmm, I might have to keep looking. Only other place I know of is a YMCA, ughh. I'll do a really thorough search tonight. Thanks guys, I probably won't be joining that place...considering its also not a gym. The floor is a rug, plus I didn't see many 'hardcore' students. Some of them actually looked like they were mentally retarded...no offense. :dead: And theres only one guy teaching, and he's not there all the time. So I can't go all the time.

Hmmm. Take a look at this maybe? I'll have to go out and see what its like, but this guy was, ironically, taught by the previous person I was going to take TKD with. With this I can actually go to the gym whenever I want, which would be amazing for tricking, but the costs...I could do it but ugh..

oh, well if its that frequent then that sounds much better. but i really would look into taking it at a community college

Oh wow, I never listed the second place...

http://www.graydragonsma.com/HOME.html

I'll try to find a community college...but other than what I just listed and the one I was talking about before, I'm not having much luck searching for others.

According to the list for the dojo listed above, I would have full access to the gym and weight room at all times and TKD classes for around $67 a month.

Haha, this was a quality thread on many levels.

As for the original question. My only advice is to check out as many clubs as you can. Talk to the instructors and let them know your intentions. Take all the trial classes you can before making a commitment, and check out the higher ranked students (if they aren't any good then I wouldn't be training there).
