Who here has beef with Tony Surphman?

Like for real...no joking, no petty disagreements...actual full-on beef? Because I want to know why anyone would be so quick to act grudgingly against someone who is so damn cool?

Yes he made a mistake, a big mistake...but does that make him a different person? No, he's the same person you used to IM for tips...he's the same person who kicked it with you at "that one gathering"...and he's the same person who gives you props when no one else would.

I'm sorry for coming across with this attitude, but it's just bugging me because there has been a lot of unjustified hate on TT as of late. We hate Team Shut'da Fuckup [not saying their real name] because they're a bunch of pretentious cunts [as the UK'ers would say], but how much of that really has to do with Tony?

I don't hate Tony lol when did I ever say I hated him personally? Tony has been an inspiration for me ever since i first saw his early 06 samp. I don't personally "hate" anyone just dislike. Whatever, my opinion doesn't matter I'm not even really part of this community anymore and I never met Tony or even talked to him.

Ok, I'm going to be completely honest about my feelings.


Tony is hella nice, and he always gives great advice. He talks to me every once and a while, but I don't know him well enough to form a hateful opinion.

I think he did pull a dick move, but I don't hate him for it. I do think his priorities are mixed up, though.

He's never done anything wrong to me, personally.
However, I don't judge people just by how they act towards me; I judge them by how they act to EVERYONE.

Seeing as I don't know him THAT well, I can't judge him at all. I think he's hella nice to me, and I've seen him be nice to just about everyone else as well.

I don't hate him. I admire him for many reasons. I think he made a mistake, but it's not reason enough to change your opinion about him.

As long as he doesn't turn into a douchebag, he's still cool in my book.

I think I only caught the end of the whole SF thing where he said he could standing double cork, then released a video of a bail that SF claimed to be a combo etc etc.

I mean...you would probably talk to him about what he did, but that would come second...the first thing would be to take up is side.

He does a lot of the grunt work for whomever he's associated with [when he was with Hurricane: he did the samplers, the designed the hats, etc....and he did the same with the other team].

I don't think Tony would take part in an action that would hurt so many people unless he; either didn't know that it would, or he really had to for some reason [which is sad, but it happens]. The thing that sucks is that the head of the team was willing to do anything to achieve his goal...and ended up screwing around with other peoples dreams [and Tony just happened to be on the team at the time].

Now I'm not trying to change anybodies opinion of Tony...if you don't like him, then you don't like him. I just don't want people to dislike him just because other people don't care for him. The whole "guilt by association" thing is gay...

i agree with that, i would also defend one of my team mates, even if i thought they did something wrong, but then i would try to talk to and straighten that person out, which from what i've seen he hasn't done. And if he has, but it was with no succes, and i didn't share his opinions and goals, way to do things etc i would have a problem with them. And since tony is still with them, from what i can understand, he must think the same way as them...

I don't pay attention to the drama in the tricking community anymore--it is all so stupid. haha Which is why I hardly post anymore.
But I suppose I shall post, just because I have known of Tony for a very long time.
Furious Angel (Tony) has been around for a long time (oldschool TT) and has always been kind of involved in some wierd drama or whatever...whether it was IMing a bunch of tricksters (waterboy, fez, me and more...) and connecting to them...sending pictures of himself flexing and then exiting. Leaving us thinking "uhhh...wierd." haha.

Or the whole conversion from normal / somewhat intelligent speaking to what he refers to as "stylized" speaking--which seemed to bring up a bunch of drama / physical threats from him.

Then there was the whole "I am as good as Prodigy" bullshit...but I wont get into that. Thats like if I said I was as good as Anis...hahah god.

Now I guess there is this Team SF stuff...seems like he always gets himself in odd situations.
He is a nice guy in real life but somehow attracts trouble for himself. =P None of this "beef" has to do with me and its nothing that would keep me acting friendly if I ever see him again.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: When it comes to these forums, I don't give a crap how you act in real life or in person.

Heck, do you think I act this way in person? No way! Hahah. But who cares? "Oh he's nice in real life, so noone can say he's been acting whatever way on this forum."

Screw that! ahaha. On this forum, on the internet, we do not deal with people's "real life personalities" we deal with people's online personas. It's like trying to hold someone else accountable for the crimes of another, you can't say that someone acting nice in real life is justification for their actions online.
If people acted the same way online as they did in real life, would there be a problem? Most likely not. However, problems do come.

To that end, online people can and will be accountable for the way they act online. This is a forum, and we have to see and put up with people's forum personalities, and they will be judged by their forum personalities.

When you're conversing with someone in real life, then you can judge them by their real life personality, in real life. But being nice offline doesn't give you an "i cant act anyway i want online" card. Far from it! One might say the lack of repercussions from posting on a forum allows one to reflect their true personality even moreso.

To that end, it seems Tony is being held accountable by those he knows in real life for his actions outside the forums, as well as being held accountable online for his actions on the forums.

I'm more blunt online than I am in real life, but it's purely because I can word myself slightly better when I have the opportunity to reread what I've written and see if I've written anything that can be heavily misinterpreted. You don't really have this option in real life, unless you stop and think about every single word you say before every single sentence. (Stream of consciousness eff tee wee.)

I never bother to hate people on the tricks forums. I get annoyed by people at times, but that's both because I have to ban and lock and delete and use time on people being utterly moronic. I don't have any beef with anyone on the forums... not that I can think of anyways.

It does seem like the people who act "heavily douchebaggy" online are (usually) the more quiet or overall insecure kind in real life though. I've been to England, Scotland, Toronto (twice) and Quebec. I can't say I've met any "online hardasses" who weren't insecure in real life. Some tried to seem "hard" in real life, but they all ultimately failed.

... except Juji and Antoine, of course. Those two are freaking badass in real life:D

And hell, I live in the middle of Bergen. It's a really nice place, but I have one stoner who keeps buying drugs down the street and smoking weed indoors about 10 feet away from my room. I also have drug addicts continuously stalking outside my window at daytime to see if I leave it open, so they can steal shit.

The forum slang..I dunno what that's about, but the point is everybody has their own perception, and perception doesn't necessarily conform to what's generally accepted. If it satisfies himself more power to him.

Also some people get uncomfortable when it comes to setting people straight, especially when you don't know how to go about it and don't want to offend them. Regardless of how jackass his team members may appear, I'm sure they must've been cool to him for him to associate with them in the first place, unless he was just looking for opportunity in what the team was going for. I'd be pretty sure that when they did whatever stupid shit they did he was thinking "lol oook guys...wtf : /" (I don't know enough to say wether or not he supported their actions btw), but although they did and said alot of dumb shit, for me, that isn't reason enough to disown them or anyone (although, I'm a nice guy).

As for my experience with him, he was a pretty friendly guy. He could appear egotystical to some, but not in such a way that he'd dissasociate himself with you regarding your popularity/social standing. That's being a nice guy and that's all that matter's to me in a person.
