View Full Version : How do YOU pronounce "raiz"?
mm tacos rock

This isn't one of those right-or-wrong threads, because this trick has a weird Portuguese name.
I pronounce it "rise", even though the "r" in Brazillianese is pronounced as an "h" sound, as in "royce gracie".
Therefore, it should be "haiz" or "hah-iz", but most people just call it "rays". I don't know. Leave me some hateful responses.
I use the portuguese pronunciation, as it should be used. But I couldn't care less if anyone says it otherwise.

If you switch feet to make it 540ish, it magically becomes a sideswipe, which doesn't sound Brazilianese at all, but rather like some retro 90's bullshit.

Because those things aren't the pronunciation of obscure tricking terms.

Rise, but to get things straight I'm still confused about the proper pronunciation of it. When you say it's pronounced hah-iz or haiz, do you mean like haze?

Rise sounds weird. I can see how people got used to that more, and how raise sounds strange to them.
That aside, rise sounds uber gay.
