View Full Version : How does an average tricking session go?

Just wondering how people on here handle tricking sessions. So ar for me it goes something like this:

Warm-up with some Dynamic Flexibility exercises thrown in.

Actual tricking, usually 3 attempts at a trick followed by 1-3 minutes of rest, then 3 attempts again.

Cooldown, usually light cardio work or w/e.

The main concern ATM is am I doing the main tricking part right, so is it do a trick a few times and then relax or do people just go balls out and trick till their legs tear and blood pours out?

mine is pretty much nothing like that haha

lets see, maybe 15 min warm up, dynamic stretching and all

depending on if im tricking in a gym or outside

gym : throw as many tricks as possible in the time alotted, only stopping to get a drink of water or go to the bathroom. usually this means i dont sit down for the entire 2 hours.
then when its over i do some more stretching, then hobble back to my car from being tired and drive home

outside, a little more relaxed since i dont have a time limit. but i usually dont rest much, i just go check my camera to see what i looked like doing the tricks, then back to work. if im with a group the session might last an hour or two, as long as other people are throwing stuff i will keep going. if im by myself less than an hour, because alone i am lazy and unmotivated :P

theoretically you do it the smartest way, you want to learn tricks while your body is fresh, so you only ingrain the good stuff into your muscle memory. but when im hyped up i cant stop, i just keep going

I stretch breifly.

Jump on the trampoline. Attempt to stretch more.

Set up a tripod (usually a chair or car) and I film myself trying new tricks and techniques about 3 times. Then I sit in the chair and watch them. Rinse and repeat.

i usually stretch for 10-15.. dynamics to.. then do 1 trick from each set-up.. like tornado.. c7 pop 360 b-twist, j-step.. just to get my body in the feel..then i throw some basic kicks.. then trick until i have to stop.. which in the gym is 2 hours

but on grass it could be all day and i barely rest.. only to get a drink.. or help some 1

i do 15-20 min of stretching

do warm ups.
squats,russians ect..

work basics, ie. jump hooks,tornados ect..

then tricking

And it seems as if I do need a camera to figure out wtf I'm doing wrong, cause simple feel only extends to landing and liftoff, I seriously have no clue what happens to me midair. Partly because I'm just enjoying being up there XD

i anticipate session with stretches..arrive at a chosen gym or open space. i trick for about 30 minutes to an hour...then i get hurt. rest for 30 minutes..trick a little more. haha -_-.

ok in all seriousness tho..i usually can only trick once a week because i'm still recovering..any more than that and my body hates me.

Go on trampoline if there is no trampoline I just do shitty dynamic warmup exercises from gym for shits and giggles. THrow basics from each category, tornados, hooks, 540s, some btwists, gainer or two. Start linking shit together. If it's alone on grass i virtually never throw hard stuff, just basics and combos. At the gym, same applies til everyone gets hyper then I ride the adrenaline rush and try some tougher stuff. Otherwise it's just drill drill drill. Normally it's pretty full on for an hour or so then I stop, rather than taking it easy and sensible and going for a long time.

Ride bike or drive to park
Trick until my absolute limit (1.5-3, seldomly 4 hrs)
Repeat ASAP (in summer usually every day haha)

I warm up with some dynamic stretches, toss a bunch of single tricks (pretty much always: 540, aerial, btwist, backflip, pop360) and then start working towards a certain genre of moves and combo's. Like if I wanna go combo the doubleleg or try a harder variation, I'll make sure I get the doubleleg good in my system. Then combo/advance it. Same for poptricks and everything.

Sometimes I notice I'm really good at a certain something that day, and I keep on doing that (aerial combo's for instance). In my solo session I don't vary that much in tricks, because I try to trick like 30 minutes max to stay fresh. Plyo sessions are usually 1,5 hours and then I try a bunch more stuff, but of course I get super fatiuged in the end.

Prior to the session I have some goals in mind, stuff I really want to practise. I don't go out empty minded towards tricks :smile:

Warm-up with some side shuffling(?), jogging, and then dynamic stretches for about 5 minutes, then I work on tricks that I have down pretty good (C720, gainers, 540 kicks, pop 360.. I don't have much of a selection to choose from) then I just drill drill and drill. But it varies if I'm with someone, at the gym, or by myself. If I'm by myself I maybe trick for 15 minutes then go inside.. if I'm with a friend on grass I trick for maybe 1-2 hours.. and if I'm at the gym I go all out for about 1 1/2 hours and try new moves.

I generally spend like 1 or 2 minutes doing a couple of cartwheels or bouncing on the spot or a couple of stretches, then I just start tricking... usually basics for the first 10 minutes or so until I am more warmed up.

I warm up for maybe 15 minutes, start off with some easy stuff like b-kicks etc, then trick FULL ON for maybe 35-55 minutes, then cool down and stretching for 15minutes or so...

get ready go out to a patch of grass
warm up for 10 minutes. stretches and kicks.
trick for a while trying new stuff and drilling old stuff to fuck
film some moves. stop /rest watch footage back. then start again
then go home. most my training usually lasts for about three hours all together. that is including the warm up and the 15 minute buss ride into town where the best grass is :)

I just spaz out a run around for a while, and then trick conservatively so that I keep fresh the whole session.

Run to park, Warm up on the kids on the swings (540 to the kid in the blue, btwist round to the one in red) Then have a Redbull.
Then Trick till it either gets dark or starts to rain

Change back and commute again for a freaking long time and find some food or something.

I can't believe you guys plan the number of reps and minutes of rest for each trick...

It all revolves around the camera for me. I feel naked If I don't have a camera to record my attempts on it.

Walk to grass.
If I have my speakers I put them down, and do some basic kicks.
Will do some basic tricks.
Put music on.
Then I think of combo`s I`ll be doing, and I just trick for hours with only second breaks between tricks or to start recording my cam, as I film like every trick in a session haha.
Then I go hope, capture, and edit.

I'm older so I have to get my body ready,hehe start out with a jog for a couple of minutes then leg swings, split stretches, basic kicks.... then I do whatever I feel like doing. prolly revolves around c7.... it's so easy

I usually warm up with stretching, etc, for about 15 minutes.
Then I condition for 20-30 minutes (mainly core strength and power training)
Most often I then throw some class "A" moves, and review the class "B"'s that I know, and finally attempt to learn the class some other class "B" moves that I"m not so great at (eg double leg).
This is usually followed by a cool down that's about 10 minutes long.

However, this order has recently been interupted because I wanted to learn double back on trampoline (I made it about 3 days ago) so my order has been out a bit....

Oh, by the way, where does everyone get the trick progression sig? (The one with the percent of A's, B's, and C's completed)

hm...after reading so many of these...i should actually start stretching....efficiently..haha..ha

i go...stretch for about 5 minutes
warm up with hook kicks. focusing on a target and trying to get clean hooks.
maybe an autobahn...but usually tornados.
then i do whatever i feel like doing that day.
i usually drill a lot of kicks, go onto other stuff. drill some more...try and combo...do whatever i feel like doing...fin.

i barely ever stretch, i just go straight into the tricking

then after like 4 hours of tricks i eat something then trick some more.

then i come home, sleep.

wake up the next day, shower, get dressed.

alright this is how my session goes.


walk in, attempt to stretch, hold stretches for about 10 seconds each

trampoline for like 20 minutes (get my twist on)

i think i alread ymade a reply to this thread earlier, if i did, fuck it imma keep going

i do like 10 of the same move, do a cork, 10 of another move, do a cork, 10 corks, then a cork.

i always go in with a goal that i either never remmber or try and fail misserably.
