quick question. i can back handspring but i have a little trouble getting over and keeping my arms straight. is it because my arms are weak or is it because my arms are too far apart?
hard to tell with no demonstration but I just got done spotting 7 year olds on their first backhand spring and all of them either jumped straight up instead of back, gave up on their arms, or hand them too wide. Keep your arms straight and try to touch your shoulders to your ears to get perfect form (as you would for a good handstand) and for extra oomph, just spring your wrists against the floor when they make contact.
Work on back bridges and back walk overs if you can, they help insure proper technique and posture.

throw a video down, it will enable us to help more but i would say throw your arms harder back, and whip your legs over

Keeping your arms straight will probably come with practice...it doesn't have much to do with strength in this case.
Make sure you're looking backwards at the ground too. You want to keep a nice arch in the back around the peak of the handspring, and then the legs come over through your effort.

What helps me is to keep your hands as close together when you touch back(I try to make a diamond with my thumbs and forefingers) and snap your feet together and down. My only problem is multiples, I can do 2 and get a bit dizzy. 3 in a row and my head's reeling for at least a minute. Anyone know how to beat that? or is it just something I'm gonna have to practice out?

Keeping your hands closer together really helps. But I'm too scared to try backhandsprings lol.

An easy way to practice is just to jump and spin a lot. I used to get dizzy too but I don't as much anymore. Anyways thanks for the tips guys. I imagined that my arms were the problem since I used to have the same dilemma with my roundoff. And trickerD, try bridges to walk overs against a wall and that will help beat your fear.
