View Full Version : 540 wheel kick hurts

When I take off and bring my kick up and over... it hurts my groin, or the tendon from the inner thigh. It's like I'm using my groin muscle to pull my crescent or roundhouse kick over; I know that's the reason why but I don't know how to fix it. Maybe pivot my hips towards the direction I'm kicking so I'm more like leaning to the side? I don't know...
And when I land my kicking leg it hurts as well. It's like I slam my entire foot/leg straight into the ground. Some people told me it's because I land too early so the leg takes a lot of punishment or something. :ouch:

train your flexibility and practise the technique, it'll become painless soon.

Stretch properly before tricking and have a good warm up.

I don't think it's stretching, I always stretch for about 5-10 minutes before and after. I'm quite flexible too... I can do center and sideway splits.
I think my technique just sucks... Haha.

Can you do a high hook kick and stepover hook kick?

What's a stepover hook kick? And how is that suppose to help my 540 wheel?

A stepover hook kick is like a hook kick in the air haha, you jump off the kicking leg. A c720 is basically a stepover hook kick, from another setup if you really simplify it.

You don't have the proper areas stretched and flexible enough obviously.

Ohhhhh okay. I can do a stepover hook kick (I call it the 360 hook kick), but I can't do it in the air (c720). I'm still just trying to get my 540 wheel kick down first, before I attempt that Hahaha.

so which area would I need to stretch then?
