So yeah, its supposed to be an aerial... not sure what the heck it is. Everytime I jump i end up turning flat, and I can't figure out how to fix it. This is only my second day ever attempting it (or anything like it for that matter). any words of wisdom are appreciated

umm.. I can do cart wheels, one handed cart wheels (on either arm), kip-ups, front hand springs. Most of that stuff ive been able to do since i was 7 when i used to take martial arts.
Note: I guess i should also add, I have been watching the jujimufo tutorials, just the skills, and a ton on youtube trying to figure out which one works best for me. So as I said, open to any and all advice

Hm, do some more cartwheels and 1h. cartwheels, then you'll probably get used to getting your legs straight over yourself, which is what you need.

To me it wa seeming like my upper body was completly sideways. like parallel to the floor, but your saying its more of my legs getting up thats the problem?
i think it was coz u were torquing down to the side instead over bending over straight in front of yourself
sorry for the shitty wording haha

It's both your upper body and legs, if your upper body is vertical though, your legs will probably be too. But drilling cartwheels, one handed carthweels and lunge dive cartwheels will probably fix that, hehe.

i was trying to do the side one first. Cuz that was the one I was supposed to be learning b4 i stopped taking martial arts (I moved too far away from the place).
I figured I would have a quicker aptitude at getting it since I had prior experience.
I can do the type of cartwheels for that one too... but my right leg wont go nearly far enough up into the air when i try to do the jumping one.
post a vid of your cartwheels

Man, bkick-ish "aerials" are no good man. You should really just learn the "good" way of doing it, it's the only one too IMO haha. What you're doing is IMO not an aerial.
EDIT: Yeah vids of cartwheels

Man, drill them some more. Straight legs and pointed toes ftw. Lift that bag leg up mad hard. When you're going to try the aerial, you won't get it if you try it with that technique, you've got to try to stay up instead of going straight down. I don't know how your aerial attempts will look though, as going straight down on cartwheels is cool :). Anyway, as I said. When you're going to try the aerial, stay up as long as you can, stomp that leg out in front of you and jump, while lifting the leading leg up hard.

you have left me with much confusion honestly.... That response didnt seem cohesive. But i will attempt to make more sense of it and go out and practice some more

Your upper body on your cartwheel is going straight down. If you do it on an aerial, you'll get no height.

That made a lot more sense.... Thanks *goes to practice*

kinda wondering how you managed to do an axe2aerial b4 being able to aerial... You think its possible for me to be able to do that... like as a change of direction trying that way?
I mean if you can do it, theres a possibility I can

anyway kinda wondering if I'm moving forwards or backwards in terms of progress with this aerial. Heres a clip from my 3rd day of attempts
Ive also noted that I cant seem to keep my legs straight when attempting the aerial. I can keep em str8 on cartwheels, but no luck with the aerial keeping them straight. You think that may have anything to do with me not getting enough torque (i'd think not cuz people do side flips with there legs bent)
watch Juji's aerial tutorial and try that little hop set up thingy he talks about. i've noticed u kinda run into it but stop just before you take off which kinda gets rid of the momentum u've just built up.

You're throwing all your shit down. Throw it forward.

Yes, you're throwing your upper body straight down to the ground. YOu want to reach out and jump.
