so i started a thread on bboyworld looking for capoeira influenced bboys..since thats kinda my style when i bboy. but i was looking for the groundwork and transitions of capoeira..cause everyone see the guys do the flashier tricks but not the groundstuff. and someone posted this video...i love it.

u no y, cuz they're brazilians, hahaha, stereotypical but true, alot of the trickzters and capoeristas over there turn 2 bboyin cuz they dont get very far trickin cuz the community is so small so they turn their talents 2 bboyin

i kinda disagree cause ive seen alot of bboys from brazil and very few of them have been that crazy capoeira influenced..dont get me wrong their influenced but their skills were on that high level.

to be honest....i only saw the flashy stuff....them power moves...and when i read your post i thought, "holy crap! foot work and transitions...capoeira style?!"

but all them flips (kinda overdone) kinda killed the routine for me...just in my opinion.

other than that, the routine was pretty awesome if they take that out. i was really excited that they started playing in a roda, that was pretty awesome. haha.

alot of the transitions and ground work was right in the opening.

but ya know they were entertaining chinese people...and they had been almost engineered to be a.d.d ridden. the routines are meant to be flashy and excite the audiences...cause the more the audience gets excited the more backing they can get once the battles actually start. their were bboy battles after the crew did their routines. though i cant remember if people got eliminated for poor routines or if this was purely for show and the battles were the elimination rounds.

Nubis: honestly this is the most groundwork i've found in bboying...someone suggested circle of fire crew from seattle..their a mix of styles..bboying house and a lil bit of capoeira though i dont see much of the groundwork and transitions in capoeira.

guess i dont like what i see...time to change the game.

Maxx you know Circle of Fire? Half of their original members are capoeiristas, and they represent fully the aesthetic and groundwork of Capoeira. You might have to look back to 1998-2003 to see the hardcore stuff, but it was pretty well done.

Excellent routine. Aranha is sick.

i didnt know they were heavily capoeirists...i guess i will have to dig deeper..alot of the stuff ive seen if from 05 til now...guess i gotta go back even further.

circle of fire isnt really around these days, so i guess this is probably why i never heard of this fact. i just knew them for house dancing and bboying and having excellent footwork.

Orb and Erik from CoF were in Lords of the Floor 2001 I think. They also did a showcase for BOTY in 2001 or 2002 that was hardcore.

Edit: Orb and Free I think actually. But Erik from Massive Monkeys or Rock Force, not sure which, also had some sick Capoeira groundwork, and was in the same LotF.

Other way around hehe. Plus repetitive raizes were used in gymnastics and dance for the greater part of a century, at least.
