i most definitely will be. however, the date of my return is muchly unconfirmed for the time being. there is a wisconsin gathering planned before the end of the year. i want to host it in december, but that is really more up to the army than any of us. :smile:

Tuesdays Lao and I trick on grass in front of matc, because he lives near there. Thursday open gym. Saturdays I just walk down the street to some park and do shit into the volleyball sand.
But, alas, winter is coming and we neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to find open gyms.

I hope turners does. It would be nice to have more than one open gym a week. I know they use to have adult classes a couple years ago but I haven't looked into it for a while.

Honestly, Wisconsin needs to step up it's jamz on the tricking scene. We need as many people as we can get.
I wish there were more ways to find tricksters. There's this thread, club540, craig's list. I dunno what else.

I just found out that Milwaukee Turners has adult gymnastics three times a week. They also have listed "parkour/gymnastics" on their schedule. I'm going to see what that's like. This could be a very tricking friendly place.

So the Madison area tricking community is really lacking unity right now. I don't even know if I can say unity, because I have no clue of any other tricksters in Madison other than myself and Lao. I've heard of random ghosts that have been to open gyms, yet I never see them.
Honestly, there are 300k+ people in a 50 mile radius and there are only 2 people that trick?
Now I guess I'll get to the reason why I am ranting.
Right now, we have one consistent open gym on thursdays. We've looked around for scheduled open gyms, but the other gymnastics facilities here have fucking age limits. We found this place, Madison Turners, that has an open "workout" on tuesdays. So we went a couple times, at triple the price of the other open gym we go to. Then we were informed that this open gay thing is only for people registered in their classes. The guy that runs it is really cool, but his boss told him to tell us this.
Now, we either pay 20$ for lessons with him or find more people for an open gym. Honestly, I just want a fucking open gym, I don't really want "lessons".
So, we now have the task of finding 6+ people to get open gym and hopefully more open gyms if we have enough interest.

I've been doing tae kwon do for some years now, and I've always wanted to try hardcore tricking. I live in a town of 2000 people, so needless to say there's limited opportunity for tons of people with the same interest. I've been trying tutorials and stuff on my own, but meeting up with actual tricksters would really be awesome.
If there's gonna be an open gym at Badger, I'd fo sho attend. I might even be able to persuade a TKD buddy to come with.

Do all of you plan to be there this Thursday? Threw down a backtuck sometime last fall, but has been a while since I've thrown down gainerfulls, corks, or any other tumbling nonsense. Rusty as shit, I'm sure. Winter sure as hell isn't helping either.

I used to take tumbling lessons there, and I did find their attitude towards open gym was a lot less constrained than other places (though I've only been there a few times). I don't know if I'd be able to get out there this Thursday, my schedule being as it is, but if at least a few tricksters are there every week I suppose there's no rush.
Also: Even though I've been doing tae kwon do for a while, I'm a complete noob when it comes to tricking. If I came down there I definitely wouldn't come close to matching you guys in ability, but if you don't mind that then I'd still like to come up.

I have a lot going on right now, which will last until sometime in mid March. My schedule allows me to only go to TKD on Thursday, inconveniently the only time you guys meet. I think I'll just keep on practicing here until I'm relieved from my burden, so I plan to come to open gyms starting in March.

Eerie-Erick, you know anybody in Milwaukee that tricks? I go to school on and off out there and couldn't really find anyone at UWM, but the biggest city in Wisconsin should have the most, right??? The closest I found were some gymnastics guys at Bradford, people that occasionally did 540's at the TKD club, and the Capoeira class did kinda try backflips. Never really left campus to look though...

It's 10 bucks a night but the facilities are quite good. Joe from Infinity martial arts usually runs a class of sorts but he hasn't been there the past couple times.

John, nice! Yeah I'm that guy. That's a good drive you're making there.
It's a bit expensive, but it's sunday night and Joe does a great job + it's partly open gym time. If he's not there we just get an open gym and it's easy to work around the gymnasts.
That's not so bad. Certainly better than nothing with winter looming. What kind of stuff does this Joe guy do when he's there?
Basically has everyone warm up and then goes through different kicks and tricks. I'd say it's intermediate geared; he has people doing some things I can't do but I'm essentially just starting out. If you're pretty advanced you'd need to add difficulty to the stuff.
And the last part is open gym like Tboyd said.

Gymfinity was pretty cool. I was more in the mood to just drill a couple things tonight so it would have been nice to have it a little less structured, but Joe's pretty helpful. And that floor is awesome!

The freerunning club here in Lacrosse is excellent. We only have two 30-minute sessions a week (due to gym availability), but the guys here are really talented. I think some people might be coming down to Madison for Freak Fest, so I'll try to see if there's any way to join the Lacrosse and Madison charters for the weekend.
Needless to say, face-melting insaneness would ensue.
Woot! I should be getting Thursdays off of work from now on = I will be at Badger every Thursday. Went last night and realized that it was amazingly fun.

Hey, I will be in Wisconsin 22nd-30th of November visiting relatives and I was wondering if anyone was near Elkhart Lake? I know it's little the middle of nowhere and the only thing important about the place is Road America, but I've got an apartment there for a week and since I trick by myself I could really use all the help I can get from experienced guys. Driving isn't an issue for me either. I have a car and I can meet someone if they want.
