What phrases that non-tricksters say that really make your blood boil?
I CANNOT stand it when a non-trickster says/comments this. It's just so rude and in your face, it's like they're saying, 'I like this shit and you will teach me immediately. There is no point in me being polite about the situation, you must do it now. Ignorant bastards!

The famous "You can do a backflip!!!! DO IT!!! IT'S AWESOME" really pissed me.
Specially when they just saw me doing a huge trick like hyperhook or sideswipe.
Backflip is the only trick people like and it's the most boring...

and yeah, some people are pretty annoying. Me disturbing this thread with a song is a good example for it.
On the other hand, it's not a big problem. If someone wants you to each him, just tell him to try a backflip for instance. He will probably be frightened or crash. Either way he will leave you alone.
For the "do a Backflip" part I think, that in most cases this doesn't occur when you're tricking, because you're flipping anyway. And even if, it wouldn't be that much of a problem to either do it, or tell him not to bug you.
You probably shouldn't care that much.
"That doesn't look that hard!"
"SHOWOFF!"
"Do you do gymnastics?"
"hey man, nice capoeira"
Those are a few i regularly hear that i hate.

...
personally(this is my opinion) i think sideswipes arent really that much harder than a backflip, for me aerials were a bitch but once i got them i landed an aerial switch(sideswipe)in the first couple tries,
but i guess that anyone who can do something is going to think its easier than something they cant do
when people come up to me and ask me to do a backflip or to teach it to them i take it as a sign that they agree that im cooler than them because of it and would rank higher than them in the monarchial system so just turn to them and say fuck you you insignificant peasant:juji:

I actually enjoy most of the responses I get for tricking. Them being impressed and asking to see something is just a sign of them interested. The only response that bugs me is the whole "That's cool I guess, but it would never work in real fight" comment. Its like they expect me to actually try fighting like that. Then you try to explain its not really for fighting and get the whole "Yeah, so I could pwn you in a real fight" attitudes (which are probably true).

I know what you mean, but it wont stop, because there will always be another person who thinks you're doing capoeira and wants to talk with you about how awesome it is, that he knows, that you're doing capoeira.
So I think the best thing is just to ignore them in your head, and keep doing what you're doing, but give them the impression, that you're still listening to them, even though you're not actively parttaking in the conversation. They will stop sooner or later, and you will forget, that they were even there.

best reply so far
lol I think some people here are overreacting...the replies I usually get for tricking are positive and reinforcing. But I still occasionally do get the "won't work in a real fight" comment or "omg backflip again plz" lol
I don't mind backflipping when they ask it from me, but disappointing when my 540s and pop720s don't get nearly the same reaction out of them.
Its always the backflip :/ whats the obsession with it
Easiest move to pull off but scariest to initially learn. How many times did you bend your knees, breathe, and swing your arms before you tried your first backflip on the ground? Exactly, to non-trickers, if you backflip, you're an hero.
Yeah I guess so, it was fairly scary the first time learning it, its definitlely over rated though...

-fixed-
And I know what you mean about the backflip, but its different with kids under 10...I was tricking at my house and the kids living around there are all under 10 and the kids see me everyday do stuff like backflips, cartfulls, sideswips and stuff and they come up to me and say "can you do a handstand?" or "can you do a cartwheel"...I try to be nice and say yes and then demonstrate but meanwhile I'm thinking "Yes you dumb fucking kid. What? Were you dropped on your head? If I can do a backflip then I'm pretty sure I can do a handstand." Sometimes I just get annoyed and flash kick them in the face...or get them to lay down so I can have a soft landing for a double leg.
I hate it at school how everyone says "Do a backflip!" even in class.. It's so annoying i just wanna kill them!!:ogre:
Haha when I first learned them I freaking loved the attention for the first few weeks when doing them and when people would ask me too... That changed all too quick though

I honestly couldn't care less, so long as they don't try to be demeaning or disrespectful. If they show positive interest I'm not going to be upset
I still love the attention haha, however i do agree with the backflip overrules every other trick in the eyes of non trickers.
I hate gymnasts who think tricking style is messy and unorthodox just because we are not clones and don't land everything symmetrical or wear nice tight leotards that expose out genitalia to the world.

I'm usually never annoyed by peoples comments, but one time I tried to teach a few guys to fronthandspring, and they pretty much all tried it once and said they'll never be able to do it, and they quit trying. Their lack of motivation/persistance irked me. But then again, they are only hurting themselves by denying themselves the ability to ever do cool tricks.
EDIT: actually, another one that grinds my gears is "are you french", because americans can't do flips.
