Montreal Gathering 2008

I'll keep this short and sweet.

I'm reviving the gathering due to popular demand. I wanted to make a mini gathering, but I decided I should invite anyone that wants to come.

So here we are. MTL 08.

It'll last a week and it'll be somewhere between the 20th and the 30th of July.

We'll be staying at Monster's place. She will have the whole apartment to herself, and it's quite big. All that's required would be like 15$ per person for the whole 7 day stay, to compensate for any inconvenience to Monster. Also, I doubt there will be a bed for everyone. I'll try to bring an inflatable mattress, but you guys should bring a sleeping bag. There's a metro station , a park and a supermarket right next to her house.

We can also rent a gym for super cheap... (maybe like 4$ per person).

Seeing as how Shido stopped hosting the TO gathering, I guess this would be the only Eastern Canadian gathering this summer. Also, the advantage would be that you guys won't have to pay for lodging too much.

I suggest you bring at least 250$ for the whole stay for food and other stuffs. (pot, alcohol, hookers lolz)

I'm joking about the hookers though, unless you want to bring her/them (or him for all you chuki's out there) to somewhere else than the apartment.

Also this gathering will be awesome. You want to know why?

It's ok. Loopkicks is a mega-gathering full of skilled people, whereas I want to make this gathering less based on skill and make it more close and personal, something along the lines of MD gath or TO gath. A lot of people don't have the money to go to Loopkicks anyway. I'm sad I won't see you for a while though :/

I'm planning on heading out on a Wednesday after work, and eventually becoming "really sick". Sick enough, that I magically make my way into Quebec.

In any case I went to my university yesterday and picked up a food planner that describes in detail how you can eat well and healthy for 48$/week.

It says the exact cost everyday with every meal in detail. So i think that may be very useful for you guys to organize your spending. Spending 48$ on food for the gathering isnt bad.

Also I went to the travel agency at the university. Tickets for Laronde are usually 42$ for a day pass. At the travel agency they sell them at 29.99$. Its a great deal, and we all have to go. Its an awesome amusement park.

Lastly, a weekly bus/metro pass is 20$-ish. Every person has to get one. Its our transportation.

So:

48$+30$+20$+15$(for the lodging)= 115$ + tax

So if you have 250$ you come here with, you should have 115$ left to buy souvenirs, pot, booze and whatnot :)

Then you arrive at Station cemtrale d'autobus I think.. Lots of.......random debauchery to say the least.

I dunno. I found that most people either spoke really good English, i.e. could switch in and out of English and French with ease, and speak both languages without an "accent", or most people just really couldn't speak much English at all.

Ok I need to get something clear, there is alot of people saying that they are comming over here but I need ALL of you sending me an PM to tell me the dates you are comming cause I will never be able to maje place for 15 people in a 4 room appartement so we need to organize some switch with the people that can't stay for the whole week with the others.

Other thing, my landlord is going to be away for a few months but he would really like people not smoke inside as my absent roomate and myself. it's an old appartement with cachet and it keeps the odors inside anyway for those who smoke weed there is a nice field right in front all for you. There is also the very fragile french door that every small window cost 50$ the piece. I'm getting nervous about this since it's my house and no one thought to talk to me about who they are (besides people I already talk to like Jen for exemple.)

Last thing, I'll be working throught those dates so there will be time I won't be home, I need to make sure I can't trust all of you. I wrecked my shoulder on a switch nose press gone wrong. I ended up going too much on my nose and flipping over on a box. I thought my shoulder was fucked. The second I smashed, I lost all strength in it and couldn't move it.It was the exact same feeling that happenend when I broke my wrist years ago. Thankfully, it was just banged up a lot-I think lol. The same thing happened to my arm, and I still have a pretty cool bruise-not as big or red as it was on Monday.

Man.....I'm in such a squeeze.....After my flight and shiz, I owed over $4000..I made a payment, and now I owe $3900. I have $400, and I'm -$3900. I miss two days of work, and I lose over $200. Add spending money and cost of trip and that makes it maybe $500. That's not exactly a loss I can afford at the moment. It kills me to miss out on it, but I think it's the best decision for the time being....Just the most painful decision.

I've been trying to work this out, but if I don't get my interest rates lowered and I don't make another fair sized payment by next Sunday (the day I'd be coming back from MTL), then I'd be hit with $741 in interest charges......That's just rape man.

I'm just in no position to attend, or do anything that involves spending to be honest. Sorry man.. I've tried to work it out, but I just can't make anything reasonable work in time.

For whatever reason, the Montreal Gathering is never doable for me. Somehting ALWAYS has to happen...Two MTL's in a row......Fuck..And the funny thing is, I'm always in a situation where EXACTLY one month from the gathering dates is doable.
