As you may or may not know, at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club we run an open freestyle session three times a week. Over the past 18 months we have had close to 1500 different people through the doors, and now classes range between around 40 - 140 people per session!

As a thank you to all of our members are holding an open competition, inviting trickers, free-runners, gymnasts, breakdancers and whoever else to come and show off their talent, and compete in a friendly environment at a well equipped gymnastics facility.

FREE-STYLE COMPETITION 2008

Sunday 13th July, 10am

Entrance fee:

£12 for all pieces.
£5 for a single piece.

£3 for spectators.

Trophies and prizes:

(Open Category)
Overall Champion: £100
2nd place: £50
3rd place: £25

(Under 16 Category)
Overall Champion: £50
2nd place: £20
3rd place: £10


Medals will be awarded for individual events.


Events:

Open Floor Routine
(60 seconds)

Competitors will have an empty 20x12m sprung floor on which to perform a 60 second routine of their choosing, to music of their choosing. There is a wall down one side of the floor that may be used during the routine.

There will be five judges, for the scores tariff see below.

Scores will be made up of a difficulty score and an execution score.

Execution score will be out of 10, judges will be looking for style, variety, originality, cleanliness and amplitude on skills.

Difficulty can be increased bonuses, such as those awarded for connecting skills, or increasing the difficulty of a skill by incorporating: hyper, reverse, gyro, switch, scoot, miss leg, swing-through, roll in, slide in, rebound etc.

There will be Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.


Obstacle Floor Routine:
Acrobatic (90 seconds)

Competitors will have a 20x12m sprung floor which will be set up with obstacles (blocks, springboards, crash-mats, beams etc) on which to perform a 90 second routine of their choosing, again to music of their choosing. This routine may include somersaulting elements. There is a wall down one side of the floor that may be used during the routine.

There will be five judges, for the scores tariff see below.

Scores will be made up of a difficulty score and an execution score. Execution score will be out of 10, judges will be looking for style, variety originality, cleanliness and amplitude on skills as well as innovation on the apparatus.

There will be five judges. Scores will be made up of an execution score and a time bonus.

Execution score will be out of 10. The judges will be looking for flow, style, variety, cleanliness and amplitude on skills.

There will be Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
