Anyone else had this happen haha?

I guess there are much worse scenarios, like having the video taken down and/or account removed or whatever.

Youtube needs to get a life... Apparently they have nothing better to do... Than search vids, and throw out copyrights... douches to max...

Rook
Jun-22-08, 09:24 AM
I guess.

I keep the video though, so I don't really care. Nor was the sampler that good anyway haha.

wow... are you retarded?

By using other people's music on your youtube vids, you're basically saying its yours, as you are the one responsible for the uploading.

Technically, they can't get any money out of you because you're not using their music for personal profit (hence why the loopkicks guys have to get permission before they could use any music on their DVD). They can however remove the video because you didnt gain permission before posting the video with w/e audio content.

They're doing it because its 'correct', as you dont have the rights to reproduce the music in any form.

Actually, copyright is a huuuuge deal. I work in a print shop, and am required to take all of the knowledge courses based on copyright.

Just so you guys know, be careful with how you use other people's music. It can even be enough to be pressed with charges, fines, or even go to jail.

Now, with your everyday, standard tricking videos I would not be so paranoid in the slightest. Youtube has absolutely NO basis for profit with how we submit our videos, so there is no legal infringement. However, as you can see here, the original bands owning the song have the right to monitor its usage, and even "block" you from using it publicly.

So basically, if you are going to make a video with intentions of profit, MAKE SURE that the music choice was either created by you, or you get the owner's DIRECT permission on a written form.

No, i'm not, lol, I understood that they cannot profit off of it... But even if they copyright it, they still will not profit will they? This was my thought process, originally... They could advertise, but how could they get $$$ from doing that???

To theref: Copyright is a LAW. Laws keep order. People are encouraged to follow laws. If laws are not followed, people get angry. If people are angry, because laws are not being followed, the ignorant get fucked.

No money involvement. That's the most basic explanation I can offer.

right... I do understand that, Taimatsu, I was simply looking at the situation from a different point of view at first...

You may look at it and be like "omg they need a life why are they bothering me", but if you were a producer of music, film, or whatever other media and people kept taking your crap, obviously without paying for it in most cases, and sticking it in their media for the world to see, you might get a little frustrated.

They can't just overlook this copyright, because then that would set a precedent of overlooking friggin everything, which they can't do. They need to protect the rights of artists, just as you want protection from the law in whatever other circumstances.

they don't search your videos a machine does, It might just look at the sound waves, so if you used a compressor or added in background noise, it may have been unable to find it.
