Hey guys I'm pretty new to tricking and this website, but I've learnt enough moves to want to start putting them together in a video.
Can anyone tell me what editing software they use to compile the clips together, cut off the bad bits and make it generally awesome to watch?
Preferably something that is free to download as well would be really helpful.
Cheers everyone :D
Windows Movie Maker is good for noobs.
But Adobe Premiere Pro 2 is soo much better :good:
Plus, everything is free on the internetz haha.

Haha thats true :P
Cheers, I've tried movie maker and its ridiculously easy but its also really limited on what you can do. I'll try the Adobe one,but I think I'm out of computer space lol.
oh ok. I thought you wanted like the most easy software to do the most basic of editing.
Yeah, Adobe Premiere Pro 2 is awesome. Lots of people will disagree with me, but they all suck lolololol. But in all seriousness, lots of people use Vegas, I hate it - but you might like it haha. :good:

Sony Vegas 6 is another great one to look at. I have pinnacle studio plus 10, that isn't bad either but it's definately inferior to vegas and premier.

Get Vegas 8 lol. The older versions aren't as good obviously, and there's not much of a compromise in system performance for the newer version.

Vegas is easy to use as well once you get used to it.

Premier is pretty easy to learn as well, i learnt basic cropping speed etc in about 15 minutes at school.
Though Premier does not work on my computer for some reason, even though all other adobe products do.
Premier barely works on my computer haha. I have 512 MB of RAM so I'm pretty much sucking now. I need a job. lol.

I got after effects but can't figure out how to use it haha
This is kind of a walkthrough on my experiences:
Moviemaker:
It's to easy. Basic, ugly and the rendered product have shitty quality!
- No plugins
- No options for format rendering
- Ugly transitions, effects etc.
Vegas; 4.0; 5.0; 8.0
Soooo nice! Easy, but still there's alot to learn! You pick up the basics in an hour or so.
- Some plugins
- Options for format rendering :)
- Pretty good looking transitions
- The FX system is easy and you can build up with various options, mix etc.
Adobe after effects
THE BEST! Hard, takes a shitload of time to learn this program, how to create something "special" and AMAZING! [A good example is John Mclay <3].
Import of photoshop files. Built up in layers which is awesome for the editing, to organize etc.
- OMG SO MANY PLUGINS *dr000000l*
- Format rendering is complicated, best is just to make a raw rendering (.avi)
- Transitions are NICE
- FX, I can't really describe it, IT'S TOO GOOD!
Hope this helped ya all a bit!

just do what totte said, render in raw AVI form, it will be huge, but very nice quality.
then just look up some compression tutorials, I think you can use virtualdub to compress it.

For simple training footage, I use WMM. When I want to actually make a quality video, I use Premiere.
I need CS3 =(

I need a Windows PC as opposed to a mac. I can only get sucky editing programs on my Mac. I dunno too many good editing programs for Macs, I never liked iMovie very much, you can't be exact with it, FinalCut requires having actual money. I currently only use HyperEngine-AV as its the best thing available. I also use Norrkoss Movie for certain effects. Really not top of-the-line but it works.

Do not render or export in .avi. haha. Your files will be huge. Get Lagerith Lossless Codac for exporting, and midivid JPEG Codac for Rendering. Then get Virtual Dub Mod and bring your lossless file into it, then download XviD, then compress the Lossless file with XviD (On the second highest setting)

how good is your mac?
macs can run windows to, and I don't mean emulate, but run, on a separate partition on the HDD.
Well if you want great quality on your samps, you should make the after effects render a raw avi. Because:
After effects is just a program made for creating amazing FX
And you dont want to compress the footage until later
If you render from vegas use this settings:
.wmv v9
Quality: 92%
Then its pretty much done
Doing the stuff you just described is just a waste of time, you can download a plugin that allows you to render in xvid. (vegas)
So if you think its dumb to create a raw avi from a program, then you have to stick with shitty comments and bad quality <3 :)
I can maybe start making some tutorials, both basic and a little more advanced for you guys if you would like to :)

Hey, you actually didn't know that most people are running Adobe premiere/after effects cs3 on MAC? It's the best!!! I would say, use premiere for main editing, and adobe for some crazy FX :)

I'm well aware of that, and I hate the fact that my mac is just a bit too old to run it. MacBook PowerBook G4 currently running 10.4.11. I'd need something different to run windows. I can only use Mac-based programs. It sucks.
Premiere Pro + Adobe After Effects
True. I don't understand how anyone could not like Premiere !

I find that Premiere's rendered files are HUGE... and it's rather complicated. I'm also really lazy. I just got Premiere though... and I think I can use Virtual Dub to compress them if nothing else.

My guess is that you're using the wrong codac for compression. You're probably using cinipac that comes with Premiere. Go and download Lagerith Lossless Codac, it makes your exported files much better quality, and it's faster. Then use Virtual Dub Mod to compress that into XviD (set quality at 2) Then you should have the file size tiny and it'll be in high quality. :good:
Basically, watch all of this guys tutorials and you'll get what I said in much more detail.
