View Full Version : Retrogression - too much training?

About a week ago I had 2 days of massive progression were I cleaned up my g flashes, g switches, btwist, and corks (was even doing some btwist swingthrus to g flashes). Since then progression has absolutely sucked. My g flashes are almost scraping the ground, my btwists turn into violent barrel rolls, and my corks end up being belly flops.
Even with proper stretching my legs become very achy after just a few tricks. My tricks have no power anymore and feels like I'm just bashing my head against a wall right now. Even considered quitting tricking all together =\.
Initially I thought the aching was sleep-related but after getting some good sleep I still have the aching with a complete loss of leg strength.
I try to practice every day but I think I may just need a good rest time and make a good schedule that doesn't include tricking almost everyday. Any advice? Please help!

Don't trick everyday. Think about the impact tricking has on your body.........i know right? take a rest.

I use to trick everyday. After a while your body WILL get use to it.... BUT
Right now I sounds like you really need a break. Like... about a week break. I know how hard that can be, but it's what you body needs sometimes.
Special Forces train for weeks to push their bodies to the point of just dealing with fatigue. NOT WORTH IT! Recovery is as important a part of training as intensity and frequency.
Take a break.

hahaha, maybe you have SuperAIDS
Tricking is like sex, yea you might love it, but after a few weeks of back to back, everyday...wtf am I saying???
Just give your body a god damn break. Your muscles are obviously worn and torn and not having enough time to rebuild the fibers. Your joints and tendons are likely not enjoying this kind of punishment either XP

hopefully all the progress i had made before will come back after i take a break, i was totally getting in to it then =\
Seriously dude, take a one week break.
I had the exact same problem and after an one week break (I had to move between cities) the first day back on gras again I mad so much progress. I got my 540 and finally my gainer and everything felt smooth and clean.
Regeneration is the key to tricking progress (and motiviation) ;)

Dude, your progress will skyrocket after a break. Eat well, sleep well, regenerate, and you will become super awesome

yea that happens to me sometimes. especially during the summer when you learn a new move, you get excited and want to go drill it alot, and so i would wake up, go, and trick everyday. you cant do that. as i figured out its not so good. you end up drilling things that are wrong and u get worse. never trick on a tired body, its never good.
i am going to the beach next week and i have not done any tricking all this week, just so that i knew i would be well rested for a week of intense beach tricking. its a great place to learn and practice, so i will need as much energy as possible.

like other people said training everyday is bad.
what happened to you also happened to me, i hit some new moves and cleaned things up and i was really happy, really stoked so i wanted to play around with new things i was out there every day trying and trying and things got worse and worse. i decided to lay off tricking for 2 weeks and continued to work out. after those 2 weeks everything came back 20 times stronger and things were good to go/
hahaha i know how you feel
last month i would trick just about every day and also go for a run
and my legs we're dying
even doing a tornado kick hurt
so just take a break
you'll feel a lot better
Just take a break from Tricking for a little while. Pretty obvious.
