Since I started tricking back in March I've only used grass to trick on, theres no gymnasiums with that special floor I see in all the videos around here and only recently got a trampoline to practice on. One concern of mine is that doing tricking exercises on the trampoline could be robbing me of my ground performance. I noticed that many things I use on ground such as my J setup are difficult to do probably won't make any difference but was just wondering.

Also, anyone got any tips for finding a gymnasium place like the ones I see in videos? I've checked out a couple places and they don't do open gym and only do classes.

i find tramps more fun then useful, they didnt really help me much. i could full on the floor before i could on the tramp, same with arabians and full twist rounds. but they are fun to try stuff that you know you want land on the ground.

tramps help with air awarenessmore than the actual trick.
and for findin a gym, u just have to be lucky enough to have one near you. otherwise you got to keep lookin and it could end up bein far away.

Yes.

As for finding a gym, if there's none by you with open gym, try to become friends with someone who works there! That's what I did.

Since before I started to work in a gym, I hated trampolines with a passion. I quickly found out why; I suck. But learning how to do tramp has done nothing but made me a better trickster/tumbler. Air Awareness for the WIN. You'll find that many one footed take offs, although not impossible (and also varies very much between the type of trampoline) are really ineffective (if you can make them work, then giv'r).

But the trampoline can also be a very fun warm up, or just a something to goof off on. I like to start/finish my sessions with some trampoline, and even some conditioning on the trampoline (ant bounces! yay!)

ok man, i have a trampoline, and i've used it alot for tricking, this is very important, if you use it too much it can seriously make your tricking lazy. your takeoffs will get no height, and you will not land moves as well.
there is a level of dependancy that can be developed on trampolines, however for certain moves it is a great place to learn motions of moves before tricking on the ground.
this is a slower process, but alot safer. landing on your head or back on a trampoline doesnt hurt much at all, so when i learned a double leg i had trouble getting the legs infront of me, so i just jumped, pulled them infront of me, and let myself fall on my back to get used to the stalling and catching up of the legs, and then i just did them, got them, and the next day i went through takeoffs, and the motion over another person bent over, and then i did em.

so basically theres alot of responsibility with trampolines, but you will figure out the limets of them.

also you can do great strength building excercises. one for example is to stand in the middle of the trampoline (where it is most bouncy) and put your legs together, and pretend as ifyour sitting in a chair. very soon you will feel it in your entire legs, and it works your stabilizers too. great excercise, easy and fun too.

good luck with it, and remember not to overuse that thing!

hmmmm....do you think it would help with twisting, i've been working on my back double fulls on the trampoline and im hoping it will help with my ground cork.

twisting is harder to do on a trampoline, so it forces you to learn how to torque better, or it will crush your confidence, either way...
