Okay so i've been working on the 540 for about a month and I just started learning the bkick. I could do a tornado kick long before that, but thats pretty much what my 540 looks like now anyway.

Does anyone have any tips for me for the 540? I just cant seem to bring my leg around faster to land on it. I think I should be jumping higher but thats as high as I have been able to get.
And the bkick looks like crap but this is the first time I was able to see myself doing it hahaha. Any tips for that?
Thanks

i still have trouble with the bkick, i have a few issues that are unsolved so far, but i did an aerial today so i'm happy. just tryto get your chest up, but horizontal is all i can say, well that and use your legs more. i dont get it that well so thats all from me on that... anyways i will imbed the video for you, just put the url in the youtube brackets:

ok so this is his video not mine^^
anyways, for a 540 your arms are very loose, make sure when you whip them around to bring them in tight to you, thus spinning you faster. your take off is a bit sluggisch aswell. try to go faster, and hopefully higher. a 540 and many other tricking moves i have found are not even close to the way they are executed in martial arts. you simply cannot always stay fixed on your target, so you have to just quickly spot, or glance at the target, then keep looking where you are spinning. this will help you later in combos that you will try.
you need to tuck the non kicking leg in, watch some slow mo's of some 540's and you will c them tuck that leg.
practice your tornado kik more, and develop the dynamic flexibility needed for these moves. perhaps just more flexibility in general can help you.
it seems that you're well on your way, welcome to tricking, good luck.

thanks a bunch man! Ill try all that tomorrow! For tucking my leg in the 540, I think it is kind of tucked, I'm just not jumping high enough for it to be noticeable. Also, when I think about tucking it, i just cant seem to pull it in as I've noticed in a lot of the videos.

i know what you mean, mine is still not perfect, but i land it, (the landing is sloppy) but what i realized is all it is is getting used to it. you cant really digest all this information about hte move, its one of those that you have to add a bit of things one at a time and gradually improve. i bet if you practice 3 times a week u'll have it in the enxt 3/4 weeks.

Alright cool thanks! I've been trying to practice almost every day haha. How long did it take you to do your aerial? I've been looking at the tutorials for a few days now.

aerial, well i never understood it for months, then i just tried it one day and did one, very ugly, but it was an aerial, and i built off of that.
btw seriously dont trick every day, you'll feel like its all fine and dandy, but after a week of two of that you will need a break. i trick maximum of 5 days a week. tricking on a sore body is bad, and tired muscles make you lose confidnce. whereas tricking refreshed is amazing and you really getthe most out of those sessions. always stretch and warm up/down too. that helps maximize your tricking endurandce.
i'm retiring for the night, good luck!

Alright ill remember that, thanks for the tips!
Also trying it without the kick can help you get the trick.. like start with knee bent as crazy and just bring it over and as you get better gradually stretch it out more and more.

540:
1. dont look at the ground
2. use those arms
3, tuck the leg
4. focus on going up,not far with the kick
Aerial:
you'll get the hang of it soon.

You need to be more controlled and more explosive. You need to dig. Don't be lazy and just turn into the kick. You've got to take the time to setup and shift your weight so you can really whip around and get that momentum going. You need to use your arms in a fluid but powerful motion, and use them to help you get lift. A loose circle of power. Bring them around and up, keep them high and tight, but fluid. They shouldn't just flop around like a ragdoll. I'd practice my inside crescents more as it looks like you don't have enough flexibility in that leg for a really sexy looking kick.

Another thing man with the 540 you should drive the knee of the non kicking leg up. This helps you get more height on the overall kick.
All you have to do is drill it and everything will come over time.
remember to spot and drill the kick, it will get better over time trust me. and while drilling it... don't just drill.. try adding more force here and more jump there etc. finding a tree and looking at it (higher up then you are able to kick) and try to kick across it really helps.
and the aerial.. well it's more of a front move not side... spot the ground and do a full power mega jump cartwheel. remember go up not down.. "You're not diving! It's no pool!" - Juji
