I don’t mean to be a prick but this is a good idea that could be way, way better. Sebben is a fantastic interviewee and full of insight (and handsome), but it’s at least clear to me that the interview was as bad as it could have been with such a great subject.

I couldn’t quite figure out how the questions were conducted but I don’t see any way the questions could have been any emptier. If you asked trickers what they would like asked from people of influence in their community, I sincerely doubt any of the questions asked would come up.

I don’t mean to take this so seriously (as it’s all in fun), but while I commend you on a fantastic idea, I’d love to see more focus on content and less on all the angles of your face.

I’d propose that you go around to members of the community through PM and have them videotape a question, which you can compile and submit in text to the interviewee. They can answer them and you can add your own levels of production. If you want to do the interview live, try to come prepared with user-generated questions.

This would make for a far more interesting video and you’d come out looking influential instead of nauseatingly narcissistic.

I know that I could improve loads, but It's just a part time hobby for me. Everything you said was more or less right on the money. But I don't feel like it'd be much worth it.

What questions did you feel were dumb and which ones would you have asked.

TT:TV is more of an entertainment show first, you have to remember that.

It's clear that it is--and it should be--but don't be so quick to disassociate entertaining from interesting and meaningful.

My own questions are irrelevant because they're specific to my own interests. The key to a great interview (at least an interview with an audience), is to try to ask the questions you think your audience would ask. And given how interactive this community is, you could actually do that directly, which is awesome.

But I would like to see a lot less focus on the interviewer, if you know what I mean.

It would be miles easier for me to do the interviews with text questions instead of me asking them.

But I feel the real entertainment comes in the editing room when I cut and crop footage and ask different questions to make things less dull.

I agree.

I’d propose that you go around to members of the community through PM and have them videotape a question, which you can compile and submit in text to the interviewee. They can answer them and you can add your own levels of production.

Then it would be TT:TV, produced by Towels instead of Towels:TV.

My apologies for polluting this thread--back to work!
