So... why do you trick? Give an answer and explain why! I trick for myself, I've never been one to show off, I'd get to nervous to anyways. Just today my friend wanted me to do a backflip, I said OK, but only if we go somewhere where less people of the retarded type would notice. We quickly headed off near the English classrooms, some of my friends began to follow, while randoms showed up, well, randomly, probably thinking it was a fight. Anyways, as we got to the spot, I turned around only to notice quite a few people had turned up, so quickly, I took my shoes and jumper off, did a backflip, grabbed my possessions and headed back to the eating area, only to be called back to do it once more (which I did not). My friends followed and started telling me about the awesomeness, I was like "Err, OK", I was shaking because I wasn't used to the attention. Luckily, my friends understand that I don't like to perform, and didn't ask me for an encore, haha. Everyone began to leave, but then I noticed my friend had gone and round up most of them to show off. He did a dodgy round off backflip, which most people weren't impressed by the fact that it went sideways and ended up funny, and later, had come to me to tell me of my backflip again, like I hadn't already known I'd done one. lol

EDIT:

Basically, place yourself in one of the following groups:

You trick alone - your friends don't have much to do with life as a trickster

You trick in a small group of friends - You like to hang out in a small group where you learn new tricks from each other. Mainly to do with others who trick.

You trick in a large group of friends - Perhaps you like to be in a group where you impress each other, though the group consists mainly of those who desire to trick. You also like a bit of competition.

You like to go public - Your main goal in tricking is to impress anyone you meet, and have fun doing it =)

Or, you could just make up another kind of group you would place yourself in :O

I think to a certain extent, everyone Tricks to impress people. There are obviously varying degrees of how much people want to impress others, but I think it's a bit stupid saying that you completely Trick for your self.

Well, besides like 3 of my friends (one I tried to help get into tricking but he didn't really want to, another who is a just a good friend but also isn't into tricking, and the other who was mentioned in my story) I haven't really told anyone else (although, that has sort of changed as of today, though I don't make a big deal out of it). But I do mean to larger extent. Like, calling people who don't even know over just so you perform for them. My friend has this thing where he will say to people randomly, and somewhat loudly "I can do ____", then people around him will be all like "Really? omg" which he'll respond to with "Yeah, watch" and does something. It's annoying, but that's just the way he is, so he's still cool. I guess this thread is somewhat like the one with Patrickster and his cocky friend, so basically, do you think your cocky and a bit of a show off?

I trick for myself, its always fun to impress other tricksters, but I don't care about those who doesn't trick because the only thing they wanna see is a backflip ><

Haha, yeah, although people didn't demand it from me, it was the only thing they seemed to want to see. But really, if you weren't part of this tricking community, or any other acrobatic type of thing, exactly how many other tricks could you think of o_o, I could only think of maybe a frontflip lol

I use to get called Jackie Chan back in year 7 when we did gymnastics for PDHPE, at least I got some certificate for it lol ;~;

It is just me and a group of friends and everyone thinks we know how to kill people with our bare hands.

My town is pretty ignorant but it is funny as hell.

Haha, yeah, that I also use to hear. Being new to the school, I really didn't know what to say x] 2 years have passed now, and I still don't know what to expect from my fellow grade 9'ers.

Though I'd like to say all of the above, "small group of friends" and "alone" would be most appropriate. I don't consider myself skilled enough to trick in public on concrete and whatnot, with a circle of people watching me.

I think that's gay. I trick to improve and become better at tricking, and because there's a lot of fun in doing that.

I trick because it's the coolest looking shit ever and I want to be cool looking shit.

It's also good exercise and a test for me.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I usually trick alone because I'm not really good enough yet but when I get better I will probably start going to public places to trick with friends or something.

My two best friends and I almost had an orgasm when we saw Team Ryouko's Friday Night Madness 3 and quickly grabbed our Bo Staffs and Nunchukus and headed out into the middle of the forest to choreograph fight scenes and Tornado Kicks. Three years later, we've upgraded to real tricking at parks, beaches, gymnastics schools, and anywhere we feel like it.

I still trick alone every now and then between classes on campus. My girlfriend tricks alone the most whether in her backyard or at her dojo before she has to work. My best friend usually saves his tricking for our group gatherings though. Overall, we do our best when we're together. Nothing raises the spirits of trickers more than friendly competition and overall fun and craziness. And a good slushie or two after training always helps.

I trick alone

Tricking in the middle of a meadow is just perfect for me.
Whenever people pass me by while tricking I´m close to getting angry. Allways get this really negative vibe, as if they think I´m stupid.

If they like what they see they´re free to observe from a distance, but standing upclose and simply stare just makes me so pissed. When that happens I just sit down and wait for them to move on.

My friend however, (who barely tricks anymore), can ONLY trick when tricking in public. He get´s all his power from adrenaline.

i get nervous when people stare at me in public especially when your learning a new trick and you have no other option but to trick in public cause i dont wont to make a fool of myself and look stupid

Wow so we have some shy trickers around here, huh? lol Yea I understand completely though. Once I was practicing b-twists for the first time on my campus and I kept spinning my body straight into the dirt. Whenever someone would pass by I would randomly throw a backflip and make it look like I was doing something else ^^; part of me wants to impress others and another part just doesn't want to look like a god damn fool in front of everyone sometimes.

But I also realized that tricking involves getting over fears, including public fears. If I'm going to trick outside I'm not going to care anymore what people think or say. Watch if they want, I'll do whatever I wanted to originally but if they get involved in find it amusing, I won't mind playing a long and having some fun with them.

All of them

I love training alone, but with a friend or two can make it more exciting. Gatherings and big training sessions at the gym are great when there aren't annoying breakdancers in the way and in public with others is also fun.

I trick because it's something I've always wanted to do since I saw a Jackie Chan movie, but if it weren't for friends I wouldn't of improved as fast as I have. And without getting positive reactions from public it'd be kind've pointless.

I do EXACTLY this when im having solo sessions haha. It pisses me off too. I usually say something to them or stare back at them.
It's not like im self-conscious or anything though, i just feel like its rude. Like im supposed to entertain them or something haha. I guess i have a much easier time ignoring them when im tricking w/ someone.

EDIT: As for answering the thread, although i have a lot of solo sessions, I prefer a small group of tricksters (tricking w/ my team and a few others basically). I enjoy gatherings a lot too. I dunno, im all of the above pretty much haha. Public tricks are fun too sometimes.

I can't really relate in tricking since I have not done it much, but I've only ever done it for myself when I have, I'd want to get good for me. When I done Freerunning, I trained by myself pretty much all the time, I always done it for myself.

I trick sometimes because it's fun (for myself). Any other reason is spur of the moment because of circumstance.

I do tricks because its fun and its nice to film them and see yourself improve, and you get a good feeling when u see yourself doing a move that you coudlnt do a year ago.
the trick to impress people is just a bonus, not the primary motivation.

It can be nice to show other people your progression, like when you send me or anyone else videos. It's generally entertaining, I mean I would say K slash tricks for himself, I would like to think you trick for yourselves, but you both put up videos on youtube fairly regularly.

Although this is not to say that tricking for other people is necessarily a bad thing, I recall Tim Hutchinson once saying on here he was tricking for the purpose of trying to get better than Munks and I think he mentioned something about getting Sheeps respect, however I enjoy his tricking videos and have enjoyed watching him progress over time, so it's not a bad thing for me ^.^

It'd be a bit annoying though to me if someone who was doing it didn't enjoy it but still just wanted to learn a trick to yano, 'impress da bitchs'. Like just learning to do a backflip off a bin/trash can in school or something so he can get the name 'backflip boy' or something homo haha.

Or rather everyone does everything for his or herself.

By tricking for others are you not really tricking for yourself?????????????? O.o
