How often do you jog, and when do you do it?
Today I tricked and lifted, then i was sitting at home and decided to go for a jog. I want to start to make it routine, so I want to get a good idea of how often others jog.
I only trick 2-3 times a 4 at most and i lift usually 4 days a week with a day of light weighted calisthenics [squat with a dumbbell in suspended in between my legs, weight lat pulls etc etc.]
Any tips on jogging or how to incorporate into training is appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I don't. Every time I jog for a few weeks, my squat gets weaker. I do sprints a couple times a week.

Do you think it is possible for the same to happen with dead lift, or is it probably a general leg weakness thing after running most likely. This is my first time jogging sine school went out a month ago.

I run 7 miles a day. Barefoot. On blacktop.
I'm just starting tricking though... I may realize that I must sacrifice some mileage for ability to trick, which I will most likely do, since crazy flipping kicks are significantly sexier than fastpaced trotting...

I ran something like .34 miles on the treadmill the other day for a lark.
... other than that, never.

Why jog when you can masturbate?
My dad is stressing for me to jog saying it's the best thing in the freakin world for me considering I want to be the best martial artist/tricker I can be, but I just find it so god damn boring. I'll walk to places most people would drive to usually and I love sprinting or racing someone, but you'll probably never catch me strapping on a pair of running shoes and sweat bands to simply go outside and run to no where.
Is jogging even that good for you? Wouldn't running over and over again for round-offs and aerials count as just as much if not more cardio?

Jogging is a mostly outdated/innappropriate exercise for most athletic goals. The carry-over in performance is minimal at best for pretty much any sport. If you fight for example, why would you train your body to perform at a moderate pace for 30 minutes straight or more, when what you're training for is something that requires you to use explosive strength at a very fast pace for maybe 3 minutes?
If you're jogging purely for cardio, if you enjoy it, do it, if not, find something else. I don't understand why people put it up on a pedistal as being something you have to do in order to be fit.

Jogging and lifting train the muscles differently, and you're never going to perform your best at either of them if you're training to improve both. That's my opinion.

A prime benefit of jogging is efficiency of the central nervous system. Seeing as you don't really jog in tricking, and so long as you're not fat, there's really no point.

Never, it's relatively inefficient. Also fat people generally shouldn't jog/treadmill to lose weight anyway as the extra weight will put a lot of impact on the knees.

I like to kick myself into breath first thing in the mornings, so I go out for a little jog before breakfast about five times a week. I have my usual course so I never push myself to improve, but I do get quite the workout in the end. After that it's feeding time!
One thing in the cardio-section I try to improve is the sprint. Oh sorry, I mean to fucking explode on that track, really, just push it. A HIIT session is god, especially now that I'm cutting.

If you lift and do little other cardio-in-motion exercises you will grow,
( If you eat properly ) But if you incorporate alot of motional exercise, you stay lean and strong. ( If you eat properly ) But for tricksters, it is basicly useless, unless just for getting a better stamina/endurance in general

Any other ideas what i could do instead of the routine jog then? Trying to build stamina for inside the ring [ 3 minute rounds ] and tricking.
I don't understand why anyone thinks jogging is pointless and not at all a benefit to many. Don't get me wrong, I've read some of your guy's post and you have excellent theory's. However, I weigh roughly 140 and you might ask me what the hell I'm doing jogging? Well, number one, I enjoy it. Number two, I enjoy the sport of trying to better my stamina. Number three, it runs off all of that fat you eat everyday that you don't need. You shouldn't run/jog if you're trying to build muscle or get bigger, of course. Some simply don't enjoy it and find it bores them. Understandable. I ran track in high-school as a sprinter. We only had to run 3 miles a day as sprinter, but that's what built my stamina and kept my leg's in shape. That's more than likely what got me into running as much as I do. :)
Zambri, I really don't see running a mile a day will harm your performance in the ring. If anything, that will build more stamina, but I would be careful. Running more than a mile a day when you're trying to compete could possibly be a bad thing as someone previously stated. Do some research and look up on it.
sure, if you enjoy jogging, you can do it.
and if you do a sport where this kind of endurance is needed ( for example you are a marathon runner ), you should do it.
but your tricking wont benefit from it. for tricking and most other sports you can use your trainingtime much more efficient. and if you do a sport where endurance is needed, you should go for sport-specific endurance.
i hate jogging and i never do it.

Sprinting, heavy bag work, barbell complexes, strongman lifts, jump roping, sparring.
I have plenty of stamina for 3 minute rings, and shockingly, most of my endurance training revolves around high intensity work for only a few minutes at a time or less.

5 x 5 minute rounds on a heavy punch bag = more fun and more tricking specific than jogging.

Since when did tricking even require endurance anyway? You do like 5 or so tricks at a time at the most.

Say goodbye to your arch/toes/ankles/knees/hips dude. Running shoes FTW.
I run 3-6 times a week depending on how much I swim. I try to keep my aerobic and anaerobic training hours about even at the end of the week.

The only purpose that jogging could ever server is losing weight but there are also more and better ways of doing cardio.
