Ok I am going to get back into martial arts. I used to take Korean Tang Soo Do, and then i got too busy with work and things and stopped going. Now i am considering going to an established dojo that teaches various forms of Kung Fu (Northern Shaolin Long Fist, White Dragon, Five Formed Fist...ect...) I am not asking if this is good for tricking, I am considering this because i want to learn a martial art. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and if you enjoyed it or whatever. I also want to know if the kick variations get complicated or flashy(not a bad thing IMO) thanks:juji:
sorry if this is in the wrong subforum:wink:

Don't really know anything about Kung Fu, but if you're interested the best thing to do is to try it out.
It may or may not be what you're looking for. Go there, try out a few classes and make an informed decision.

It might be a good idea to write out some reasons for learning a martial art and some of your goals related to learning a martial art. That way you will be able to tell whether or not a particular style is suitable...

I think some basic questions will help you arrive at your decision.

Obviously for instance, do you want to take up a martial art more so for the health and discipline, or do you want to just be street capable and fuck someone up.

If you want to do a martial art that will fuck people up, does that studio teach you how to take on multiple opponents, or is it pretty much directed for tournaments, etc.

Do they teach weapons.

Are the teachers assholes, do they allow you to challenge why they want you to learn a certain move, or are they just instructing and not really giving a damn if you're doing it right or not.

I mean you'll be able to tell a lot just by observing the class. But seriously like, if you were going to do a martial art to jack someone up, and you were considering MMA, don't just settle for a "cage fight" type of studio. I know a lot of arrogant MMA fighters, and hear stories about a lot of famous UFC fighters that get fucked up because they think they can win street fights, and forget their opponents have friends that won't mind fucking them up with an empty bottle.

Learn to fuck people up eh? Sounds responsible.
