You teach yourself. Start by learning basic kicks, hook kicks, crescents, round kicks.
Then basic moves, pop 360s, tornado kicks, butterfly kicks, cartwheels
Then take them up a notch, hyper 360s, 540 kicks, butterfly twists, aerials
Can always keep going up =] double legs, pop 720s, parafusos, cheat 720s, hyper butterfly twists, aerial twists, backflips, front flips =]
The better your basics are, the easier it is to learn the more advanced moves and the better your later moves will look.
Don't rely on us though, this site is for trickers, not slaves :] Youtube has tons of tutorials, www.trickstutorials.com main page has everything you could ever need to know to start tricking.

Take a tumbling class.

my thoughts exactly haha
Skippy's advice is top notch though
Although I find pop720s soo much easier than 540s (I can't 540 haha)

i recommend taking a karate class. Preferably Taekwondo for tricking at least.

Yeah basicaly if you just want to learn to flip, then don't start tricking, just take tumbling. If you want to learn to trick, skippy covered it.

Aww c'mon be kind, that's the reason most outsiders start tricking =p
The equal focus on all disciplines comes later I find, as part of your development as a trickster. Not that it's necessarily a necessity (lolwut).
Read the tutorials on the main site and forget about flipping for a little while. Do tornado kicks and butterfly kicks and 360 crescents and very basic stuff (search youtube and the tutorial forum for information about them). These will help you get control over your body in the air and learn how to gain height when jumping from various positions.
Once you're confident, check out one of the plethora of backflip tutorials, learn the technique, and get a spotter.
Jujimufu's is one of the best and most entertaining out there.
Try to get hold of a camera to film yourself with, and if you're having specific trouble with a move, post a video of your attempts in the tips for tricks section.
Read the "how to start tricking" guide in the tutorials section.
I think that just about covers it.
agreed.
Edit: And please don't make any threads about getting over the fear of backflips. Noone will help you. You will just get flamed.
^^ oh yeah, probably the most important tip. Feel free to post for help if you have a unique problem and a video to back it up, but search around first. 99% of the time your question will already have been answered.

i already karate and can nearly do a tornado kick. I am working on my 540. What I meant by learning to flip was i dont want to do crap like swinging on poles and walking on thin stick and all the crap they do. I was just wondering whether you could turn up and say hey can you help me flip. I am interested in all the other stuff. I just find them hard. The 540 my main problem is I cant get the hip twist. I have worked on it for hours but cant get it.

i recommend taking a karate class. Preferably Taekwondo for tricking at least. Depends entirely on the club....I've done tae kwon do for like 5 years(got first dan black belt early last year) and it wouldn't really help tricking at all other than maybe reverse hooks and tornadoes...and they are reasonably "advance" techniques in the tae kwon do that I do...... I guess it can help conditioning/flexibility though... What I meant by learning to flip was i dont want to do crap like swinging on poles and walking on thin stick and all the crap they do. crap is a bit unfair, flash kicking on a 6 inch wide beam is pretty insane/cool if you ask me

stop insulting gymnastics. Take a tumbling class if you just want to learn to flip, or figure it out yourself. Drill your tornados and 540's come naturally. A few hours isn't going to do much.
