Are hand grips really effective for building your forearm strength? Do they just tone or help you to buff out?

grips can be effective for training your crush grip, but you still have your pinch grip and support grip to worry about, and it is hard to find a decent gripper

you are better off squeezing a tennis ball or something of the like

grip strength is mainly tendons that close the fingers, so big forearms and strong grip are not necessarily the same thing

if you are looking to BUFF OUT and not just TONE UP your forearms I would suggest doing various types of grip training while also training the flexors and extensors of the forearm
but there are many ways to BUFF OUT your forearms

I like farmer holds or DLs with over emphasized squeezing on the bar.
