Ok my asthma has really been pissing me off lately it's all Good but i need to take my inhaler a lot and i would fucking hate not to be able to go on my hike because of it. Any way does any one know of any cure for asthma? or is there anything i can do to reduce the effects of it? I read that it is just a bacteria but i am not sure about that but i was thinking if it is a bacteria then there might be a cure for it. I am really getting pissed off with my retard lungs and would love any help at all.
I had an asthma attack a few summers back and i have to say it was the scariest time of my life! There was a chance i could of died. Any way i was in so much pain when i had the attack and i never want to experiance it again but doctors said that i would have a bigger chance of dying if i have another asthma attack.
So please any help would be great! just a cure or something to make it better.

They said I had asthma as a younger kid. Never had an attack or anything, just got winded pretty easily but it went away as I exercised more.

Pretty sure it isn't a bacteria. There are probably different causes for it but my trachea was small or closed up or was inflamed or something, I don't know.

So would you think if i done more exercise it might get a bit better? like if i done running or swimming.

Yeah!

Stuff that makes you breath hard, but don't have an asthma attack while trying to help your asthma, haha.

haha well i fucking hope i don't have another attack. I might try going running more often. get me fit and hopefully make my lungs bigger and stronger so not to close and to try and kill me, the fuckers.

My brother James had asthma, fairly bad too, however I remember when I was much younger he eventually started running, and eventually became the best cross country runner in his school at being able to run 20 miles flat out.

His asthma went much better, and then he moved to new mexico where the air is much cleaner than here, he told me that ofcourse he will still have asthma since it'll never just dissapear, but in the last 6 years he has never had to use his inhaler.

I am really good at sprinting but only 100 meters. But i might start running more often. I have used my inhaler over 10 times this week.

I thought asthma was like a defect in goblet cells in your lungs or some shit, producing too much mucus. It could probably all be solved if people would stop whining about stem cell research and genetic technologies in general.

Neil

I think it's just the muscles around the lungs and air waves contracting and reducing the flow of air getting to your lungs and the drug in the inhaler just relaxes the muscle to make them un-contract (i couldn't think of the correct word )

Asthma is a chronic condition involving the respiratory system in which the airways occasionally constrict, become inflamed, and are lined with excessive amounts of mucus, often in response to one or more triggers.[1] These episodes may be triggered by such things as exposure to an environmental stimulant such as an allergen, environmental tobacco smoke, cold or warm air, perfume, pet dander, moist air, exercise or exertion, or emotional stress.

I only took it once and I didn't even need, haha. It was like the day after they told me about it and I got winded in PE so I was like,"Uh oh."

I obviously didn't have it that bad though.

Yeah quite a funny story really. Just one day when my cousins were visiting i started to get short of breath i took my inhaler then i was fine and 5 minutes later i was short of breath again so i took my inhaler again and nothing happened so i took it 10 times and it was ok for about 10 minutes then short of breath again. I took my inhaler nothing happened and i emptied a brand new inhaler in less than an hour so i thought, holy shit i'll see what happens i wont tell my parents i can't breath. Then i go to the cinema and try to breath (wasn't easy) when we got home i told my parents my inhalers weren't working then i just suddenly threw up and i ran to the bathroom (well i couldn't actually run cause i couldn't breath but you get the point) and i was keep throwing up and taking deep breaths and basically dying. parents called an ambulance they came and gave me some type of stuff that is a lot stronger than my inhaler. I couldn't talk because i couldn't breath the bastards were asking me questions that needed answers and i couldn't talk. They gave me the stuff that made me breath better. then they took me in their ambulance and took me to the hospital but they didn't come when they did then there was a big chance i would have died due to not being able to breath. When i got to the hospital they kept me in for a few days and then explained that if i think i might be having another attack call them right away cause next time will probably be worse and it will take a lot less time for me to die.
Scariest time of my life. nothing like nearly getting hit by a car but fucking so much pain and so much sick and so little air getting to my lungs.

Swimming can be good for asthma I hear (seems true too - I'm asthmatic). I think the humidity is what helps.

I also haven't had to use my inhaler for yonks (some years).

I had asthma when I was a kid, but not really anymore. No inhaler, no attacks, for who knows how long.

I still have low respiratory endurance though.

Do you know, that it's actually the sperm of the pollen, you're reacting on?

I never had astma or anything of that kind when I was a kid. I remember having allergies on sugar, when I was a kid. My upper lip swolled up and got red and I got this flaccid skin on it and shit haha. I don't have it now though :eh:. I was born yearly though, weighted two times less then I should be, got a groin hernia and almost died, obviously. I can't remember any of it though, I was just a newborn baby...that was near death experience nr.1

Second one was when me and my bro stuffed in us a full bottle of grandmas medicine. I remember doctors literally sucking out our guts with a special hose.

Third one was when I went head down into a grave full of boulders. That was a hell of a fun :good:

Forth near death experience was when I was holding onto a rotten wooden plance, while having thousands of spikes and all kind of sharp farmer devices under me. I was about 8 or 9, I believe.

Fifth time I fell from 3+ meters with my head first, into the ground lol.

Sixth near death experience was when I almost flew out from the bridge with me and my mom in the car. That was shit scary haha

I think that's all...

What can I say, I like to live dangerously ololollooololololollol

But tbh, it's not like I did it with purpose, not all of it at least haha. I should've known better, in some situations.
On the other hand, I haven't broken a single bone in my body, except two toes on my feet

I've only read the first post in this thread but...

I've had bad asthma my whole life. I've been hospitalized for it a few times, for days at a time, from severe attacks. I use albuterol as an emergency inhaler, which works wonders, and when I start getting really bad my doctor puts me on advair. I used to take a lot of preventative inhalants and we even debated using steroids for a while to help with my lung capacity. But really the best thing I've found for me is increasing my aerobic capacity through endurance and cardio training. Finding out what kind of things you are allergic to and avoiding them (especially when working out) helps immensely, and even though it sounds like common sense a lot of asthmatics overlook that because they have allergies they don't know that they have.

Asthma sucks.

I had a form of asthma as a kid as well as a very weak immune system. I did acupuncture for 3 years and it went away.

The acupuncturist said that by unblocking chi channels it should be cured.

It worked ownders for me. I'm so much more healthier.

One thing that bites tho, is that most acupuncturists are bullshit. You really gotta search for a good one. And then it may cost a lot.

I really don't know enough about acupuncture per se to make an informed decision either way, but in my opinion it's total clown shit.

my inhalers are salbutamol they aren't very strong but i think they are dine for my health right now i might do some more exercise cause when i used to do weight training and cardio i noticed i didn't use my inhaler as much.

Aug-08-08, 07:04 PM
Yeah, I can't really run too much anymore because my knees can't take the constant impact (but backflips are okay? haha) but even doing a lot of powerwalking or biking or that sort of thing helps a lot. Not to mention tae kwon do, which I am convinced is the only reason I'm even alive.

Neil

Haha well the world would be shit with out a short gorilla. I will try fix my bike after the holidays then go for bike rides to try get my fit and help my asthma.

My sisters being a medicated asthmatic for years, and i always told my parents i thought i had it but because i could control my breathing through what i thought were attacks they told me to stop whoring attention.
AHA.
I went to the doctor who decided i had it, my sister then took my inhaler and lost it.
I've been having to control my breathing again. aha.
ITS NOT GOOD!

Haha yeah i went to the doctors today and they gave me like a brown inhaler it's just a lot stronger. so i think i should be all right now.

yeah, ideally you should have two types of inhalers.

A brown one (beclometasone dipropionate) for long term minor improvement and a stronger more 'instant' one, for example bricanyl or ventalin (there are loads of variants though)

The new brown CFC free inhalers are horrific though, literally like someones throwing a pack of flour into your throat.

Neil
Aug-12-08, 04:09 PM
Yeah my new ones are CFC free. they do taste shit for a few seconds but i don't mind it really as long as it keeps me alive haha

Damn... That's some serious stuff right there.

I only have one story like that, last summer I was working on renovating my father's new house that was fucking old and uninhabited for 5-6 years before he moved in. I was told to go up to the attic and take apart the chimney brick by brick. I hit it lightly with the hammer only once, and the whole thing fell down along with the floor, and me of course. Fell a good 3.5 meters onto a pile of bricks and broken planks, but I didn't get any serious injuries, only a few minor wounds. I was freaking lucky because there was a door at the point where I fell, and if it were open, I probably would have broken my spine on it.
