View Full Version : Fainting...?
Does anyone have experience with this odd reaction?
I fainted for the first time a year or two ago when I was in the ER with a giant splinter in my hand. It happened almost immediately after I was administered a local anesthetic via syringe. I figured it was a reaction to the anesthetic since i'm not squeamish and needles don't bother me.
But then last january I smashed my finger with a drill and fainted again. I'm guessing it's a sort of shock reaction, though i've had plenty of injuries before, and never had this reaction except for that once.
Then last week I was standing around talking to a friend about how weird fainting is and I got really light headed and almost fainted just thinking about fainting.
So, what I want to know is, does it happen more often after it's happened once? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is there a way to make it stop?

I thought fainting only happened to women in the 1950's.

I really think you should go see that doctor now Meg.
I fainted while using the bathroom once. I got up from my bed, I was REALLY light-headed for some reason. I was in the middle of my business and all of a sudden I blacked out for a second and fell and hit my head on the toilet.

I've fainted twice. Once was during some shot or something at the doctor. The other was from getting my ear cleaned out with a hook by some old nazi concentration camp doctor. He was rubbing it right near my ear drum. It was the most painful experience of my life.

I once cut my finger and it wouldnt stop bleeding and my whole hand was covered in blood and then i fainted after I sat down.
I once shot my hand with a nailgun and the blood literally spurted out like a fountain, I started trying to put a plaster in it, which was pointless obviously before everyone insisted i get first aid. After my hand was bandaged up I went back to work with everyone looking at me suspiciously, the bandages all turned red and I started becoming delirious and got sent home. I didn't faint on that occasion though.

The last time I fainted was when I got a massive cramp in one of my hamstrings. Actually passed out completely for 5 seconds or so haha. Found myself on the ground. The only times I've fainted is from situations of severe pain. Not everytime of course but once in a while.

Ahahahah, you did that too??!!? Ahah, I got the nail stuck in my hand when I did that. I got x-rays and everything. Oh, isn't it an awesome feeling?

Would it be to try to bring her back to consciousness with smelling salts, like a gentlemen?

when i was younger i had a really low heart rate, i was on holiday and was sat down reading for ages, then i got up quickly to get a drink. I took two steps, blacked out, fell over, bounced off the bed, hit the bedside cabinet and landed on the tiled floor.
wasn't fun. Can't say i've ever been KO'd or passed out apart from that

I've almost passed out from exhaustion a couple of times, totally my own fault mind. Don't think i've ever completely passed out though.
Does anyone get really light-headed when getting up from laying and or sitting down and just get to the point to where they can't see for a second or two? Or sometimes, you feel like you're about to faint? It happens to me quite a bit, ahaha.

I fainted only once. Two years ago, one winter day I donated blood. They called me in because I'm supposed to have a rare blood type. I went to hospital after classes, then drove back home, shoveled the snow around the house, did homework and then camp infront of computer until midnight. Then it kicked in. I stood up from chair and fell right back down. I felt immense rush of blood to my head a moment before blackout. Woke up 10 min later with scratched face and mouth full of blood.

a combination of low BP and heart rate.
Basically what happened to me only worse haha.
It happens to my mum all the time, she has to make sure she gets up slowly or she'll probably walk into something

I passed out like that once when getting up from the table. Everything went black and then I was lying on the floor. And my BP and heart rate aren't too high :D
