hi im brazilian and im new here (perhaps my english doesnt look good)
ive read the whole thread "THE FEAAR!!!!!! - Guides and write ups" and i think i can make a question here in this thread .. if my doubt isnt new please let me know
its about the standing backflip again .. ill try to be fast
i took about two months to get this move perfectly .. but i still need a spotter to launch the first bid
i began acrobatics six months ago and ive been tossing perfect backflips since May .. my friends try to encourage me .. some times they scream ("DO IT NOW! COME ON!") or start talking about some other craps (topics different from tricking or acrobatics) or even begin making fun of me to make me feel better and relax but I STILL NEED A SPOTTER THE FIRST TIME I TRY THIS MOVE. then i relax and perform tons of backflips alone without aid.
and its becoming worse. i used to swing my arms backwards before jumping (that move that juji teaches in his video) very fast but nowadays my arms and my hands tremble and i dig slowly. i land on my feet but still scared (i mean VERY scarred).
can someone help me?
has someone here ever lived this difficulty?
ok thanks

Mouldy, I have the exact same fear.
I could backflip pretty good, but I was always scared of it. I could do tons in one session, but still I was really scared whenever I did it.
After an injury I havent backflipped for 7 months, and now Im at the beginning again.
Gotta go through all that fear again :agony:
I really dont know how to help you though..

edit: my hands tremble too lol

i cant understand why youd be scared if you know you can land it and if youve done it many times. what are you scared of??

It's just a feeling you have to get used to.I still get that way with corks sometimes, but I eventually get over it.

i have a friend who says the same .. one day i smashed my neck into the ground tossing round off - backflip .. besides ive hurt my right ankle many times in the beginning .. anyone would say its fear of crashes .. but this friend told me he also got hurt doing round off - hand back spring - backflip but he tosses the standing backflip with no fear .. though HE DOESNT KNOW TO BACKFLIP .. he doesnt even get enough height .. he lands weird but still with NO FEAR. ok thats it

how long have you been backflipping? I had pretty much the same problem, I could land backflips easily but was still scared. However it becomes a natural movement over time (the body gets used to it), until it doesn't require any effort mentally. just do a few each session, and in a couple of months you should be find :good:
