My brother was recently in the hospital.

They gave him some pain medication.


On one of the bottles it reads 'hydrocodone" and has "generic name - vicodin"


is this the narcotic version of the drug?

hydrocodone is very common and in the US often combined with paracetamol for heavier pain. In germany ist called dicodid as far as i know.

A "narcotic" by definition is an Opiate substance. Hydrocodone is derived from Opiates, Same stuff Codine, Heroine, Morphine etc come from.
