View Full Version : Stop procrastinating and go trick!
Title says it all; I keep seeing loads of new members turn up and rack up huge post counts in a matter of weeks. I’m beginning to get bugged by it.
You shouldn't be spending long on this forum, why? You should be busy training! Not whittling hours here, asking questions that you already know the answer to, in the vain hope that someone can offer a short-cut to training. Some people here seem to have this notion in their heads that tricks are hard. That you need 2-3 hours prior to a trick session to glue yourself up on theory followed by 15 minutes of "mood pumping" before going out to trick. Tricking is easy, this is probably the most relaxed and informal sport to-date.
You can spend hours reading websites and tutorials on tricking and over analysing it, but it won't be the same as doing it. You can read a book on horse-riding all you like, but that doesn't make you a horse rider!
It's like when people buy a gym membership, then don't bother turning up. When asked, "So do you work out?" they reply casually "Well I have a gym membership" and then they feel falsely validated in saying that.
You’re not a tricker until your actually tricking regularly. Otherwise you’re just a chump with a TT account who occasionally runs outside to turn some cartwheels.
People complain about Sesh leaving, he was good and decided that this website was no longer productive. This website is simply an addition to your training, not the core feature. No tutorial can simulate experience and the knowledge that comes with that.
Members here complain that Juji isn't online enough....
..That's because he's doing what you should be doing... ....FUCKING TRAINING!!!

Silence yourself, Indpendance!

Who cares? Labels are meaningless. Plus, who are you to decide?

Im pretty sure he is studying a lot , and not tricking :good:
In order to answer this.
I feel I've been neglecting my training, got out of habit in the spring and only got back into it a couple of weeks ago. Realised that this is a common thing in any online community based sport. Decided that this needed to be said for good or bad. If I can see reasonable evidence for this being wrong then I'll retract the statement simple as.
Skilz:
1. I don't really understand your "indpendance" thing, care to explain? (Note: I am currently expecting a classic TT "No I won't explain LULZ"
2. So you got good at tricking by reading tutorials rather than the hours of training. How do you think people learn to drive a car skilz, books or books and practical work?
3. Labels help give an acurrate picture in a short hand fashion. People say they are into heavy metal. Not that they are into "a style of music which uses fast paced drums and equally fast paced bass/guitar work, of in which songs are not normally sung but....."
It makes life easier, so don't give the hippy cop-out argument of "man that's tottaly blah blah, labels are pointless"
4. "Who am I to decide", I never claimed to be an authority on this, it's simply MY opinion, as it is given under MY username. We can challenge each other all day about who has authority. I mean who says you're to tell me to be silenced?
5. I assume he's training from watching his vids and reading articles building up a suppossed picture of him. I could be wrong, but I think a man with his talent and athletic prowess, got there through training, not simply reading.
Ping!

<-------------------
Other than that, you're not all entirely incorrect.
However, you are attempting to force this opinion on all of us. "No I'm not." Yes, you are. And if you really don't mean to, then it's not our fault we get that impression, it's because you have come off that way in the wording and tone of your first post.
Also, I'm pretty sure Juji is on a LOT more than you think...ahah. Not that it matters, I'm just saying.
HAHA! Ho shit!

Pretty much, don't try and inforce your oppinion.
I mean your an idiot to claim that someone who doesn't trick regularly is in no way a tricker.
My oppinion is you are the most obvious gay guy i met when i was in inverness whom i asked, "are you gay?" and then claimed, "NO WAY MAN", i lol'd and went back to finding hybrid theory.

This is a slap in the face to regular TT users that are good at tricking. And you must be on TT enough to realize certain people rack up post counts quickly(but you don't know how often they train). Just saying dude. I'm not trying to carry out an argument haha.
4. "Who am I to decide", I never claimed to be an authority on this, it's simply MY opinion, as it is given under MY username. We can challenge each other all day about who has authority. I mean who says you're to tell me to be silenced?

1. Actually that isn't me, you can check up on IP's. I do know him personally though, and I find his shit hilarious.
2. I'm not enforcing my opinion, I don't have the power to do so. It's just my opinion being expressed. You know the whole concept of a forum, right?
If you're good at tricking, and you are a regular here. Fine! This post obviously wasn't directed at you. It's directed at the guys who come in read up on tricking and the theory with every intention of learning the moves, then don't actually go out and try them for whatever reason.
Looking at some of the posts I'm beginning to remember why I so seldomly come here, and why sesh left.
I don't understand all of the hostility, I mean if you don't like a guy, drop it and move on. Fair enough I've been a dick here, but some people seem to be way to hung up about it, even now.

Actually, the IP's say it is you. Although, I guess you guys must have just shared the same computer at some point, maybe he logged on to TT on your machine, or vice a versa.
It's directed at the guys who come in read up on tricking and the theory with every intention of learning the moves, then don't actually go out and try them for whatever reason.
Who the nigg does that?
And why does it matter?
Looking at some of the posts I'm beginning to remember why I so seldomly come here, and why sesh left.

While I heavily agree with this, I don't know what this topic has to do with it, or why you thought this thread would help for this particular problem.
Actually, just for the sake of argument:
I do know him personally though, and I find his shit hilarious.
Really now. You say it's hilarious for your friend to come and troll on the forums, and yet you also say you don't come to the forums because all the hostility and such, often a result of said trolling.
So, what makes it so hilarious for your friend to come here stirring up arguments, but so terrible for others to argue and post hostile things? What do you say about this?
1. Actually yeah, we have logged onto each others TT via eachothers Pc's, so I can see how it could come across.
2. I just get that feeling, that some people don't train as much as they should [in hindsight I can see why this post would be conscrewed as rude]. I know I've done it (although it may just be me) it happens in alot of other technical sports, the technical aspect is used as an excuse to avoid working hard. I feel this post might have spurred some people into action and get them to trick. Giving them an increase in appreciation/enjoyment of the sport.
3. I just brought the attitude thing up, simply becuase their are a good number of posts which, seem to have no real attempt at logical argument, and rather geared towards, "jump on the bandwagon" slag off the OP.
4. I do enjoy arguments so.. ..ok I'll answer.
I find his posts to be themed, he takes an opinion and radicalises it, HE GOT ME when he trolled another board I was on. I found it hilarious, half of me couldn't believe someone could hold such a view, the other just replied and tried to keep a straight face.
Their is a distinct wit in what he does, and with a bit of effort you realise that he is not really intending harm.
He doesn't mindlessly post ad homium garbage in an attempt to lower self esteem and insult posters he disagree's with. His attempts can be seen calus and cool but are in fact light-hearted in nature.
Plus I don't think he has posted outside of the publicus yet.
The attitude many have on this forum is overly aggressive and dis-respectful.
His does contain dis-respect but in a respectful way, if that makes any sense, haha! He's not serious when he goes at people.

Ok ok good stuff. I don't quite disagree with you. Yay!
At any rate, all I can say is lead by example!
TT is like Gotham city. Fool of crime and villainy!
So what do we do? Do we leave, letting it sink into the filth and muck that is useless and belligerent members? No!
We work, train, and don bat-esque costumes to fight evil and turmoil! To show TT City that it doesn't belong to the corrupt, to ignorance, and to CRAP.
But seriously, it's true! If you want TT to be a better place, act the way you think others should act. Be an example of a fine and contributing member of TT, one who doesn't do any of the things you mentioned (ad hominem arguments all day, useless flaming, etc), and by doing so you leave an impression on others.
----------------------
You see, this is where Sessh was not quite as influential as he could have been. There's nothing wrong with leaving TT, not by any means. There's nothing wrong with letting people you won't be around any more, either.
The thing is, Sessh left the sight and gave a very thorough thesis on why he left, and why the reasons he left show that the site is degrading. Do I disagree with these reasons? Not really.
However, Sessh was a very respectful, respectable, and well meaning member of the forum. And as such, he led by example, and was quite influential to many people here.
So while him leaving wasn't bad, he set an example, one that would in fact be more detrimental to TT.
Now other well meaning, respectable members of the forum don't want to post as much. The points he made were valid, and people know that. And people are sick of the hostility and lots of the general idiocy. (Don't get me wrong, it's not a huge life threatening deal, but it also makes the place significantly less pleasant)
So now these reasonable members, like yourself, think "man, now I see why Sessh left, look at all this stupid crap."
True, but wouldn't it be better if people thought "man, I see what Sessh is talking about, what can I do to contribute to the betterment of the forum?" But people don't say that, because by leaving in the manner he did, he set a precedent.
So now, respectable members of the forum are going to be more inclined to leave as did another well-known respectable member, and not even bother.
It's not like this is extremely terrible.
But, what scenario would make people more inclined to take positive action?
You can condemn while on the way out, or you can stay and use the strength of your will and influence to try to make better changes.
Of course, you can always just leave without any drama or whatever, but in this scenario we're referring to those who want to make this place better, which implies that some action is going to be taken to try to influence things for the better.
In Sessh's case, his reasons for leaving may have been valid. However, it's set a precedent that others who notice the same thing are going to follow: not stay and fight it, but just leave it behind.
And by doing so...the more and more good people who leave TT, the more and more crap members are going to permeate the board, continuing to make it a much worse place for people who want to enjoy the tricking community we have here.

I have to agree with that, although the matter of getting people to be more pro-active and hands on in their training, I feel would be difficult to show. As members here we only see samplers. We never see the hours of work that is done to get there.
How would we get people to act so?
If I came across condemning and loutish, I apologise. Maybe I was too used o the usual TT atmosphere of aggression, and hadn't realised it had changed somewhat hahaha!
I wasn't necessarily condeming these people, I want to help them, they're going about tricking inefficiently, they obviously have a want to trick, but they need that push to get them out-there.
Maybe a softer approach is needed?
If anyone wants to take this idea for a thread and do it in a way they feel certain people would be more responsive to, be my guest.

You know... Half the drama on TT comes from people going "OMG STOP THE DRAMA, GAWD".
I haven't noticed any drama here at all, except for the usual bunch of US tricksters going apeshit over their own ability. Some people just need to be immature though, and as this site has about 8000 members from the age of 12ish-30something, there's bound to be some jackasses. Both among good and bad tricksters..
