I'm doing it right now and it hurts. Feels like it stretches my tendons more than my miscles... normal? Doing something wrong?

Briefly, what the fuck is happening haha

It does that everytime I do it.

If you can do a V-sit, I doubt you need flexibility advice hahaha.

Umm... maybe if you describe the location of the pain it'd help? You might be pinching a nerve or something.

Just use different stretches for the same muscles in the meantime.

hamstring stretches ftw.

although v-sits don't require much flexibility, you need strong abs to hold it though.

or i don't know, flexibility never held me back from doing them.

but if it's just me, check the main site for juji's hamstring stretches, they are good.

I meant this:http://www.trickstutorials.com/images/s21.jpg but my legs on my wall... Like lying down on the ground legs up like this on my wall.

Feels like it hurts my "behind the knee" (hamstrings?) ligaments, tendons, whatever it is that pulls. And it hurts and doesn't feel like it's stretching (if I compare to other hamstrings etc stretches.

Thank you!

So like this?

Exactly! Sorry, couldn't find the picture in the flexibility page, my bad. Thanks Chic.

Any answers?

how much does it hurt? is it slightly bearable, or is it the not-so-healthy-pain?

Trixter

It doesn't feel like a normal stretch, but like someone is pulling on my tendons and shit. And when I come off this stretch (after one minute or so) It hurts and I need to rub my leg and shit, and they hurt when I bend them for the next 5 minutes.

It's pain, trust me. I can differenciate pain and stretchy feeling :)

I'm desperate, I heard this stretch works wonder, and my case of flexibility is bad. I CAN'T GET RESULTS, AND NOW THIS.

When I do those I feel a great big pain in my left knee's tendons.

Don't use that position then. Just stick to stretches that don't cause pain. You might find that one useful when you're a bit more flexible.

hmm....something about turning your hips either in or out comes to mind....

How can you turn your hips when your body is like

|_ ?? They are kinda forced into that position. But yeah, I will stick to other stretches for my hips.

If you're retarded...

Your pelvis can tilt both anteriorly and posteriorly while lying in that position.

But yeah, I will stick to other stretches for my hips.
Probably a good idea.

For a perfect v-sit, you need perfect flexibility

Probably a good idea.

I would have to push my pelvis up during the whole time, kinda like making my bum lift up the ground?

I've always had problems with my hips and the sidesplits and stuff, I know I have to push my pelvis forward while doing the sidesplits, but pushing pelvis during this stretch makes it uncomfortable.

And you don't have to lack respect...

Tilt your hips forwards.
Like this:

Sort of like the opposite of a pelvic thrust. This may not work for you still, partly since you haven't said specifically where the pain is (have you?).

Welcome to the flexibility forum, chicanerous

Your bum doesn't have to come off the ground in order for you to tilt your pelvis.

How your pelvis tilts is related to the arch in your back. If you press your lower back into the ground such that you can't slip a hand underneath while lying down, your pelvis will tilt posteriorly. If you do the opposite, rotating it forward, it will tilt anteriorly. Using a pillow to support your lower back, as suggested by another poster, is also a good idea. Either way, the bum will still be on the ground.

I'm not claiming that this will solve any of your pain problems though.

dont mean to hijack your thread but when i do this exercise i cant feel a thing, my legs wont stretch at all, im not flexible, would that be why?, feels like my muscles are just working to keep them from stretching out, not letting go if that makes any sence, its really annoying cause i read bout so many people praising this stretch

Gotcha guys! Thanks Chic and Papa.

I understand what I need to do with my hips and stuff, I just always had problem feeling what would be an anteriorly pelvic thrust in that position.

I wanna do this stretch because I always read before going to bed, doing this stretch while reading sounds like a good idea to me.

I'll try just a "light" anterior pelvic thrust see if it makes any difference and I'll get back on you guys with the details.

Thanks again for the help, I don't ask often but when I do, I am being honest haha

im thinking about doing this stretch while i sleep cuz its really comfortable, it might be bad for your blood circulation in the legs though, has anyone ever tried that stretch for like 8 hrs straight?

Hmm I might give this stretch a whirl.

Although, now that I think about it, I don't really have a suitable wall. :/

.. I suppose my sofa will probably do.

Yes, yes, I'll use my sofa.

I'll have to make certain that nobody is sitting in it mind you. That would be awfully embarrassing.

The sofa it is then!

Cheerio then.

Cap'n Crunch then.

Bon voyage and all that.

See you next fall then.

Will do old chap.

Take care then.

Yes indeedy.

Splendid.

are you being sarcastic, i really cant tell over the internet, i dont wanna risk amputating my legs

Haha, yeah I was.

I don't think there's much point in holding stretches for such a long time. I'm a bit rusty on my physiology (i.e., I'm totally ignorant), but I think it misses the point of stretching so to speak.

Just be patient and stretch properly.

i do stretch but i thought i could get results faster if i also add in 8 hours of non stop light stretching

You'd probably just move out of that position while asleep anyway.
