View Full Version : Any trickers around Pomona, LA ?

I'm completely new to tricking and I really wanted to learn back when I lived in the Bay Area a few months ago. I got a hold of a few trickers but they never returned my phone calls...
The reason I want to learn is because I've always been interested in martial arts and I trained in muay thai for a few months. But mainly I've been inspired by the videos on youtube.
Currently I'm going to school at Cal Poly Pomona, and I'm hoping someone would take me under their wing or at least get me started by showing me which gym I could go to, to learn and practice.

btw I did a search on Gymnastics Olympica and South Coast Gymnastics and they're both too far for me. About a 40min - 1 hr drive.
And I don't know if there will be trickers there all day. I'm really hoping someone will be kind enough to bring me into this community.
sometimes..you just gotta bring yourself into the community! Jk. But, yeah all the trickers are sadly in LA or in OC area around irvine westminster..There's me which I am in riverside and a maybe a two or three others lol.

Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough to get into the community. I actually got into the pick-up artist community a few months back which is why I haven't had time, but now I really want to do this. It was a lot easier to connect to people in the pick-up artist community as well, cus it's catching on and there are so many people who have read The Game.
Is there a gym in riverside? My cousin goes to school there so I might go there sometime, though it's a 40 min drive...

What are the well-known Socal teams or w/e?

That's me! I'm right over here at Pomona. I've been trying to get out to the city center, but not driving makes it a bit of a pain, and the start of school has made it a little less easy to commit the time. I just enrolled at a gym right next to the college; they have adult classes on Thursday 7-8 and open gym Saturday 11:45-1:30. I've joined a Capoeira class here at the college, and already been able to get a few people interested in flips; I hope to eventually be able to start a tricking/choreography club.
I would love to get together; in fact, I'd be downright depressed if you don't have time to meet once over the next few days. When is convenient for you?

btw what's at UCLA? that's not too far for me.
40 min drive isn't that long but say.. more than once a week would be too much since I'm trying to get a job + i'm a full time student. Just dont have that kind of time.. would be nice if we lived on the planet mars
UCLA has a gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-wheneverreally that costs 5 dollars, however you need a student to let you in as a guest and need to already be able to do some sort of tumbling.

but yea.. i'm still looking for a mentor ..
or a way to get in contact with local tricking crews.. It's like I'm in the middle of the ocean with no life float right now if you know what I mean.
The 2 closest gyms to me are GO and southcoast gymnastics which are both a 40 min drive.. I'm willing to make the drive but I dont know who's going to be there or when.

yea.. but you told me you were willing to help me out if i came down to the O.C. area... so now I'm confused..
We try and trick every friday at our gym, South Coast Gymnastics. I can't be bothered to go to Pomona or w/e to trick with just one person ya know? So whenever you plan to be around the Irvine/costa mesa area around friday give me a PM.
