View Full Version : B-Boying

Not that so much tricking related, but move the topic, if you see it necessary.

Anways, what are your views on B-Boying? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Have you tried it? If not, would you like to try it? Are you a dance person at all? Etc. etc...

Just tell about your relationship to b boying, damn it.

Personally, I think b-boying looks amazing and is extremely cool. Unfortunatelly, I was born white and lame, with no sence of rythm or style. That's why I can't dance for shit and stick to tricking.

Love it! Best thing there is besides Tricking when it comes to movement. Sex is also very high rated but in an other way.

I did bboying when I was "young" so I'm still doing some, but not any good for my tricking because my powermoves etc. is in the wrong direction of my tricking but! I'm trying to figure out how to use it anyways.

i've started bboying and tricking later but slowly dropped bboying.
i was just too lazy to practice toprocking. i still want to get back into it because i absolutely love how some ppl toprock. i want to be able to move like that someday

im still in love with the hiphop culture and the music tho. funk/soul/hiphop is just the best music ever.

but damn practicing bboy moves is just so different to tricking. in tricking you throw yourself in the air spinning a couple of hundred times praying to land, whereas in bboying you have to keep a constant flow of momentum going which is so fucking hard. it's like over 9000 things you need to keep in mind when doing flare - 'oh this leg should go up then the other as well and then uhh this leg goes under that one and uhh fuck i forgot to keep this leg up lol'

bboy moves (and not just power moves) are staple in my combos.

That looks like an exact copy og how I'm related to bboying and hip hoptoday  except I've started training some again

I am a hardcore bboy. But I damaged my wrist so it's hard for me to do stab freezes powermoves. I think I am going to drop it for a bit and just trick.

I love bboying. Not only is culture and history, but the act of it itself. I am also born without rhythm, but bboy is the reason why Ive been trying to correct that and learn how to dance. It's really difficult though, I find that I always try to get into training to be a bboy, but just never do. Tricking is my main shtick, but I would love to be a bboy.

And to me bboying an breakdancing are very different things.

bboying has been my life since 03..i stopped for a while to get my blackbelt. but i've come back to it...i work on it everyday. I've been very much into putting tricking heavily into my bboying and more than most...like i use hook swingthrough sideswipe,jacknives,c-1080 into my bboying.

i'm very much involved in my boston scene and have started to throw bboy jams at my college. I'm going to be throwing it again this spring..we call it spring breakin. Its kinda funny how i knew people through tricking and is still connected to bboying. me and trevor met in tricking but were dumbfounded when we found out we're both into bboying..it didnt come up in the convo when we met. my first bboy battle..if u wanna call it that was against bboy chem(jesters bro) and he very much smoked me..haha back in like 03/04. i love bboying to death and can't see myself not apart of it.

I think it's more than a coincidence that today's most notable trickers have experience in artforms centered around dance - be it breaking or capoeira.

Anis - both
Jeremy - Bboy
Danny Graham - Capoeira
Ott - Bboy [judging from the Denmark Street Battle]
Sesshou - Capoeira

This isn't even mentioning all of the Brazilians

I love B-Boying but my wrist has been so screwed that I've been unable to do almost all of it haha. I need to work on footwork and such more though, but not until my legs are healed. I'm dying!

Something that has really helped my style evolve is (in short/ the crappy condensed version) is thinking of tricking as areal bboying. By combining this with other mindsets I feel I have come up with something all my own. This is also to blame for the fact that msl are in over 85% of all my combos :P

i've considered bboying in the past, but i just stick to tricking. I would love to get things like flares, and at my gym i work on them every once in a while, but overall i prefer tricking. I'm another one of those rhythmless white guys so tricking comes to me a little better. Props to those that can do both, it's impressive stuff.

Bboy is awesome.
It is fun, creative, stylish and helps to build strength and flexablity.
I only ever tried a couple power moves [want to try more] but I used to trick with bboys at the gym and at UW when we would train. They were always feeding off of us and we were feeding off of them. Cool culture. :good:

I like watching bboying a lot, but I'm really only interested in the power moves. The culture and the 'style' that a bboy needs to possess is beyond me.

I can flare and windmill, and learning those was a fun experience that was unlike learning any other tricks. The flare actually came sooner to me than the mill, haha, but they really do take a lot of time and patience to learn. Bboying takes an impeccable amount of timing, speed, and coordination that, quite frankly, tricks lack.
