My mum always got happy when she saw me land things :] My mate Jem was there when I first got standing fronts and she was quite buzzing when I started landing them because I must have tried about 20 in the session before I started landing them haha.
In general though I don't think friends do feel the same way, or people outside of the tricking scene in general =[

My cat is really the only one I know who appreciates tricks passionately. I have to be careful because she tends to chase me down mid-combo to congratulate me

The people I know that doesn't trick usually knows how hard the trick is and gets excited too. But those who don't have a clue what I'm doing will not get as happy as me.
maybe people who dont know tricking gets more excited when we land a backtuck then say if we done a sick ch1080, since they dont really know about tricking they would think a backtuck is harder so they would get more excited i think. but i still think other people do get excited just as much as we do from landing tricks.

my girlfriend yells at me when i end a combo with a full and dont swing it to a gainer or some kinda variation of a full or something. i actually did a full s/t gainer and she asked why i didn't do a w/t full at the end. she knows her shit. haha

She should make you combo's while shes cooking ;)
i'm thinking..
imagine that hype at a gathering ? does ANYONE else ever experience that level of energy, or enthusiasm to land something new ? in any other sport, etc ? is that feeling completely unique to tricking ?
Alex probably not, but I have a lot of mates and me myself do alot of sports.
Scoring in and match/game of anything.
Getting a try.
Shooting a 3 under pressure
You get the same kind of buzz, but i fucking tell you NOTHING compaires to tricking
The feeling that everyone gets when you or someone lands something amazing is unbelieveable.
Haydn's double back/Munk's EVERYHITNG, everyone felt the vibes and went awol.
I dont think there is anything quite like tricking unless its another extreme sport like bmxing, skateboarding or snowboarding or something that you can actually get this kind of feeling from

I'm sure it's the same with BMXing, Skating etc, it's all pretty similar, but the learning curve is fucking awesome in tricking, I can't see many other sports being that good like that

"Street" sports or youe more extreme stuff has the same thrill, i'd say, i mean i watched friends start getting flips on snowboards, and was buzzing like when simon or kris does an awesome double cork.
aha.

do you think thats why the community is a lot more important for "street sports" the encouragement from your peers and learning on your own rather than formal coaching makes it so much more of an experience to achieve something ?
only a few people understood what alexx was talking about haaha. but yes i think the adrenaline you feel at a gathering would probably be comparable to playing a sport for your country for the first time or something. bleh i cant think when i have to post with wii
edit:i agree with alexx! trying to emulate matthew was better than having a gymnastics coach telling me what to do

I realised after my post what he was on about haha >.<
I do think people outside tricking get the same thrills but as said, only in extreme sports.
Watch this video Alexx, especially at 35 seconds ^.^ http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Pw7vKtqpo I believe surfers like Laird Hamilton and other followers get the same buzz in surfing giant waves as someone would get landing their dream move the first time.
i think climbing a mountain would probably be the same feeling

The feeling derived from landing a new trick or combo is definitely comparable to other individual (not team) sports. Most will be extreme sports but there are other more orthodox sports that will invoke the same emotions.
e.g. For a snooker player, achieving a 147 break in competition must feel pretty fucking awesome. The crowd always goes mental too.
e.g. I've been learning some pretty advanced juggling moves recently and the feeling is a lot like that of landing a new trick. It's not quite as intense, but definitely similar.

You realize, a lot of tricking moves actually have their roots in Street Fighter.
Edit: Hahaha, that was a crazy reaction though.

That feeling is definitely in capoeira. When I'm in a big roda with awesome music and energy, I can do everything a lot better, and sometimes do things I couldn't normally do. I imagine bboys are the same during a battle, when you are hyped, everything is better :)

all people care about are flips. they would rather watch me do back tuck than a hyper 12

Landing a new trick > winning a football game, or winning any other sport game
Winning a game is not as good, but for example dunking over someone in a basketball game is comparable. And I'm talking from experience.
yeah i can imagine haha,
i once climbed through a tiny window to get into my friends house we were locked out of, that gave me an enormous sense of hype haha

My little brother did that when he was about 7, I did a few tricks on the lawn.
Safari: *Does a btwist land with s/t*
Lil bro: Why didn't you throw a gainer? that would look cool

Hahaha, yes!
I had to break into my old house through a tiny second floor window because I didn't have my key. It felt awesome!

Why would anyone who doesn't trick get excited about us landing tricks? hahah
Obvious exceptions like girlfriend, spouse or real good friends.
But only because they probably know how much it means to you, but probably really couldn't care less.
Do you get excited when your neighbor tells you he finally ollied that 7 set at the school?
Probably not haha.
Sure, people like to watch us trick. No matter what the trick is though.
I mean you could finally land your hyper hook but they will be just as impressed by a roundoff - flashkick.
hah you completely misinterpreted what i was saying.
if i had worded it like this it might have it a bit more understandable for people
are we the only people that get this excited about THEIR hobby ?

I think that this feeling is only true in individual sports. You know that it was you and only you that got that double cork, thus making the mountain higher and success that much greater

I thought that might have been what you meant...
In that case, yes.
Skateboarding, rollerblading, biking, gymnastics, bboy, the list goes on.
Especially the ones in bold.
They are the ones in which you make yourself go out in the street / skateparks / wherever until you land whatever it is you are working on that day.
This is coming from someone who used to skate before tricking.
The feeling of landing a trick on a skateboard and riding away smooth is pretty close to landing a "tricking" trick / combo smoothly.

yes, it's called gymnastics, you don't think we get hyped when we land or do a new skill or when we accomplish our dream routine? I get this "tricking" feeling all the time...

All of my friends outside of tricking are just jerks about it. They just mock me when I do stuff and don't appreciate when I pull something off amazingly.

My friends are the same.
Really, I rarely feel good about landing a new trick because the second I do I am like: Ok, I got it now I have to make it perfect
