People call TT a community. In tricking there are 2 communities. True TT members and True Tricksters. You can tell which one people are.

The real tricksters don't care about the drama, they want to trick. They aren't discussing OMG that was 45 degrees off angle. They are talking about good things or trying to help each other. They take place in the real community (gatherings). Granted some people just are not fortunate to take place in these and thats okay. But, some don't even give a shit about it.

I know i'm probably categorized in both. I get involved with this drama for no reason. Its fun! But, I am also out there doing things, helping, and wanting it to grow.

If you want to be able to do that, then yay, alls I was saying was I agreed with it and I too think it sounds silly if people are like "trick4lyf".

Although I guess if tricking does go mainstream Daniel, then it could give some opportunity to you to actually be able to keep getting better until you're like 40 and up until that point also open up some kind of school where people could learn.

That is one advantage I can see of tricking going mainstream, people who are good all round trickers (I say all around because I think it'd be silly to open up a school where you teach kids double corks before 540s), right now who will ofcourse end up being pretty badass ones soon would be able to open up schools. If everyone knew what tricking was, there would be a lot of people like "Heyyy I wanna be able to do that" for whatever reason, and as alot of newcomers do these days, will look for somewhere where they can be taught tricking rather than teaching themselves.

Then bam, google a class near them and BAM "Daniel Pitlocks Tricking Dojo" first result.

i think you could make a living through tricking, whether its doing stuntwork/fight stuff, or just doing acting jobs that involve stunts or even music videos.

i dont think the quality of life would be particularly magnificent because you're never guaranteed work, and an injury would mean that you're out of a job, at least for a while.

To be honest, if 90% of the people on here tried to take it mainstream they just wouldnt get anywhere anyway, due to lack of business savvy and knowing how to properly make it doing tricking.

Sooner or later ESPN or whatever is going to catch onto this "new underground sport" and there will be competitions with prize monies and sponsorship deals.

A bit like that crappy parkour contest except tricking actually works in a competition context and is actually fun to watch.

Me and james are doing a show in Oceana in brighton tonight and getting £20 each for like a 2 minute set.
We get alot of work, everyone could if they tried.

I don't know what's possible. But as I see "tricking in the medias" now it'd definatly be possible to earn some good money on different shows, enough to make a living for a short while. But in order to make a living of it, you gotta have workshops, trick-classes and shows on the side. Only my opinion but it seems a bit unrealistic ATM (tricking is still very new to the humans ololol).

I didn't say that that's not possible, man! I want that too, no doubt. But as the situation is now (concerning that these days more and more underground sports get accepted). My point is that tricking will probably be just as big as skateboarding, bboying, snowboarding etc. but medias are not ready for it yet.

I don't want tricking to have the empty materialism and posers of the other 'BIG' extreme sports but I don't think that's as likely because well aside from like clothing or gym facilities there isn't too much merchandising or to be had.

But I want tricking to get big.

Perhaps even as far a Olympic level.

I have heard someone say that tricking is basically like "these guys who jump up and try and spin or flip as much as possible and land somewhat with no form or anything like that.'"

I don't want tricking to be viewed in this way.

I would like it if it was like skating in the aspect that most people know about it but not everyone does it.

I'd like see people concentrate more on the next step. Why? Because when we make these big projections of what potentially happen in the far off (or closer than we think) future, once we get a window open to that stage, we'll take it. Basically taking a shortcut to our place in the limelight. It happened with bboying turning into breakdancing, it happened with freestyle rollerblading turning into aggressive inline, and it's seemingly still happening to parkour turning into freerunning.

I say fuck the quick route, I want to see what's the next step from where we are now. What's next for us? Loopkicks is slowly starting to show their face more and more in mainstream media. Tricksters grow everyday towards becoming super-athletes, rather than the kids jumping around that tricking was attracting a few years ago. Every day is the next step to where we will eventually end up. I'd like to see this progression happen day by day, instead on using whatever time machine people are thinking we have.

We're not going to get anywhere unless we collectively take ourselves there, one step at a time. I remember when the tricks tricksters would do were just barely impressive, something you wouldn't see everyday and that novelty made it special. Now some of the best tricksters can put anyone in awe. Before you had to be one of the tricksters to truely understand how special this thing is, now it's just so apparent to everyone that this isn't just another internet driven craze, it's something bigger than that.

I miss the tricking glory days of the past. It was an exhilarating feeling knowing I was one of maybe 50(or less) people in NY that could 540.

But that does not mean that i don't want others to know how or even know what tricking is. Everyday I hope to bring the love I have of tricking to someone new. Then hopefully they'll get the same exhilarating feeling that I get.

i would hope tricking goes mainstream but still being able to keep the underground/I'm special feeling.
