It doesn't have to be Porridge or Oatmeal (Oats)

It needs to be Low GI (slow burning energy) But i cant tell you the amounts you would need of somthing else.

All i know is OAT's Work. And that's along side with good rest/diet/etc.

Adam: Your from scotland, My gran (from scotland) makes like porridge with salt and vinegar so i don't blame you for throwing up!

Hahaha good work man, Try a more aussie approach to porridge.

Oats+Water Stir = Microwave for 1 min.
Add Honey then stir
and then milk and (Optional)Yogurt over the top!

porridge/oats before a session is great. to make it easier to trick everyday me and mike set up a little training program kind of thing, basically have 4 small trick sessions about 40min or so. just drill moves 3 times, concentrate on technique first 2 tries then power on the last. then on the fifth day i tend to have a much harder session, maybe an hour and a half but go hard and try lots of new things etc. has been working wonders for my tricks, all my moves are getting alot cleaner and easier i promote it :good:

Nice work man, sounds like a structured workout plan, created to improve but not over train

I have a second day system, I have a pretty hard trick on day A and on day B i either rest or have a short 5-10 min session of just a few tricks that don't take much strain on the body!

Stops from over train and creating bad habits.

Also on this topic: I found the best way to loosen yourself up before a good session. Applying a good diet/sleep/routine like yours if you want to be loose for tricks, Go out and have a session for about 2-10 min don't go too hard just all round type of tricking range Kicks/Flips/Twists just lightly nothing techy like combo's or S/t doubles haha. Then leave or stop for 20min-6hours what ever, just make sure you don't go relax to much, stay active walking around just not lounging. When you go out for your session and stretch up i find that the muscles are more relaxed and willing to give you a good session.

careful you don't wear yourself out, or warm up and strain to the point of being weak/lethargic/seized up or tired after. Its a very touchy way to get a good session out and has to be done carefully. Something to think about and i found it out by going for a trick in the morning feeling shit not being able to loosen up forcing a few tricks, then later on heading out for another attempt and just finding myself at ease. I been doing it more lately and most of the time no deliberately. haha:tongue:

Yeah i know what you mean about sessioning before and then sessioning later in the day, definately takes you to your peak faster when your having your second one.

Oh thank god i was worried i was just weird about the second trick thing hahaha.

Ok well Porridge + Oats is just a recommendation from me that i have studied as a good way of getting something Low GI(Glycemic Index) into you.

I have gotten into weight lifting again too assist with tricking and just physical health and interest. Im now on a muscle bulk diet to increase my gains in the gym, and along with this i have done hours of research into what is not only good for a pre workout food but good for pre tricking.

To cut this short i will just link you to an article of the site i am learning all the proper ways to eat, lift and gain.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/glycemic_benefits_index.htm

And if you cant be fucked reading that!

In summary:

Low GI, such as porridge gives you a slower burning energy, rather than a high GI which just gives you a hype so to speak that you can burn off in no time. With low GI, you have more energy trick longer, crash and burn out slower.

A quick quote from that article:
Switching to eating mainly low GI carbohydrates that slowly trickle glucose into your blood stream has many benefits, such as:

* Low GI diets increase the body's sensitivity to insulin
* Low GI carbohydrates improve diabetes control
* Low GI carbohydrates reduce the risk of heart disease
* Low GI carbohydrates reduce blood cholesterol levels
* Low GI carbohydrates reduce hunger and keep you fuller for longer
* Low GI carbohydrates prolong physical endurance
* Low GI diets help people lose and control weight
* Low GI diets help minimize carbohydrate cravings
* Low GI diets help minimize energy crashes

And then after a trick it doesn't hurt to have High GI to restore your energy level. Yeah hope that cleared it up a little more.

Also not just for those looking to hit the iron, If your interested in nutrition+diet, motivation or supplementation if you get low on energy or whatever i really recommend bodybuilding.com (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/index.html).

do you know much about GI then ? does it work the other way round as well ? If i was about to have a session and had something that had a high GI would that be good for a burst of energy ?

I know enough, but not the in's and outs and im sure i could be corrected from people on here so don't take what i say as gospel.

I would not recommended anything High GI for a trick, You would get that burst of energy BUT crash quickly and find it harder to trick and get tired quicker and not have had a long or powerful trick.

Alot of people see it like

Low GI
High GI

oh LOW GI must mean low slow energy fuck that im gonna go me some HIGH GI.

But noooo, LOW GI is more healthy and the energy is over enough to give you that boost of insanity tricking, Low GI keeps you at the same level and makes your peak for longer and then slowly get tired that's after ages for me though over 45 min.

High GI is recommended when your out of energy to bring you back up fast to be able to continue your day, But not to start jumping around.

I recommend porridge, in the morning. As it gives it time to digest settle in and by the time you hit the tricks the energy is in your body!

The first time I tried NO2-XPLODE (BSN's equivalent to Powerdrive), I felt like tearing kittens in half, and had a three and a half hour session without even the slightest crash or fatigue.

It doesn't quite give me the same feeling, but I really don't trick on the same level without nootropics (I also recommend powerdrive over NO2-XPLODE any day of the week; NO2 is fucking robbery when it comes to price)

Glycemic Index is less reliable compared to glycemic load if you're trying to gauge what sort of affect food will have have on blood sugars.

I generally just eat something a couple hours before my session so the food can be fully digested and converted to energy. If I have some spare cash I'll buy an energy drink and take LITTLE SIPS throughout the session to ensure I don't crash and so as not to fill my stomach up and make me die :good:

The yolk popular to contrary belief contains a cholesterol beneficial to your diet and is in no way bad for you :]

I do not eat that anymore haha, but that was my breakfast when I was bulking >.< add in 50 grams of crushed nuts to the oats and a tablespoon of honey and BAM.

oats + a load of full fat milk + hot chocolate powder = an awesome filling breakfast you can pretty much drink.

i used to have it all the time before i went to the gym. I used to (and still do) work 8:45-6ish, bike 8km home, eat oats, then bike another 8km to the gym and work out.

ITS AWESOME.

*edit* i also worked out i bike around 15km to get to where i usually trick now
