View Full Version : Raiz- quick question
i want to try this at the gym tomorrow. I was just wondering with the kicking leg am i trying to kick it with my foot facing up over my head or in more of a circular motion that goes round like a hook kick?
If you want it more inverted (which in my opinion looks better), think of it as a gainer out of a cheat setup, so instead of pulling the non-kicking leg around, pull it over your head with tons of back arch. The hands that normally swing up and around for the cheat setup now swing down and around.
If you want it fast and whippy, think of it like you're lifting the leg for an aerial but then turn your hips open towards it as you go.
I'm pretty sure both of them go over your head as opposed to around, both the gainer and the aerial (gymnast one anyways) are inverted completely.

Yuss, I think Aki is completely right. Gainer out of a cheat setup (try to lift the leading leg straight over the head)/aerial-ish sideways lift! :) No crescent/hook motions with your leading leg, that won't work out inverted/floaty/nice!

Raizes have a kick in them now?

aerial gumbi ftw.
They have a kick in the way a gainer flash has a kick, or in the way you "kick up" the back leg in an aerial.

does it really man? how come i dont feel it when i do raiz?
to fully invert, i arch my back (inbetween my shoulders) with a pretty violent "pump" if you will.
some refer to this as keeping ur chest open. (only i guess i focus on that quite a bit)
other than that.. i think of a raiz no differently than a tornado kick (minus the kick) only i look backwards.
scalco said upon seeing me doing it, that my technique is "flawless" :p.
