Update: Not much improvement in my P7, but there's also a P3, an attempt at a 360 gyro and Michael doing a P7, so tips for those?

Jump, and spin as hard as you can using YOUR ARMS!... and also kick during the spin! don't land the spin then kick

how are your 360s? Your 360 gyros?

wow I'm sorry but that wasn't even close, dude. XD

Try and at least be able to spin 540 degrees comfortably from a pop setup, then RIP IT and try to kick as late as possible.

yeah learning pop 360s will help you immensely. and 360 gyros will be a great addition as well.

another tip. dont look at the ground. it halts your spin.

another tip. use your arms, jump, and SPIN! use your ARMS!

What everyone said, really....
right now you're doing a 360 spin. get a good standing 720 spin first

Alright, thanks guys, I was basically just trying requisites, but I can spin 540 comfortably, and sometimes 720 from standing, but I can't seem to tweak my pop setup such that I get any more power, I just lose balance, what exactly should I change?
Also, is a 360 gyro a pre-req, or just something that would make it easier?

Thanks again,
Liam

Well, pre-reqs make another trick easier, so it's the same! questions like that won't help you to improve your tricks so just try to do that, what everyone here in this thread told you! learn the pop setup with an easier trick like pop360 and then you can try a pop720!

It looks almost like your trying it half-heartedly, really try putting effort into all the individual aspects of the kick. When you get your jump and spin good you should have no problem, your outside creasent seem's good

I agree with the comments but bozzy hit it on the head. more power, commitment. keep training !

You don't need a 360 gyro at all, you just need a 360. I can barely 360, sometimes i can't, and i have a quite good pop 720, you just need more speed and power.

EDIT: And also i saw that you really need better setup/take off... when you pop, you are doing it really slow and with no power. You need to pop hard and fast, and then jump and spin.

Crouch/dip into your setup, and start with your arms out straight before pulling them in to your chest as hard as possible. If you keep losing balance, practice your 360 crescents, and try doing a 360 spin with no setup, and kicking at the end of the spin like you would with a 720. That helped me a fair bit.

That's for your case but, if you want consistent pop720s then 360s and 360gyros are the way to go. Doing these moves allows you to spot twice and then kick in a pop 7 versus twisting furiously and letting out an unpredictable kick hence INCONSISTENCY.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll take that into acount and try to apply it. Coincidently though, this 3 day heat wave that's hit Melbourne has suddenly turned into a raging thunderstorm, so it might be a couple of days before I get a chance.

In summary then:
I need to train my p3s and 360 gyros from a good pop setup
I should practice spinning from the pop setup
I must stop half-assing and commit by throwing my arms hard and jumping, then spotting the target

Thanks for the pointers guys,

Liam

Be more aggressive. Dig down furiously and punch off the ground like a motherfucker. That's how I managed to go from 1.5 rotations to 2 rotations in the air like it should be :good:.

But the kick was a little slow and happened when I was descending from the trick so I had to work on that a lot :bad:.

Jump hard and throw your arms way up before you wrap for the spin.

I'm sorry to break it for you, but you're actually cheating your pop setup by 90 degrees. If your camera is the target, your right shoulder should be facing it on the take off.

It looks kinda like when your stomping b4 you jump you kill all your momentum

try maybe stepping into it rather than actually hopping/stomping
its always helped me xD

YOU FAIL

Sorry, I know i suck too much to be critizing people. BUT I KNOW YOU CAN JUMP HIGHER.
Trying get some more potential energy before actually jump. Place your arms to the right more and when performing the trick then tightly wrap them in.

Good luck.

1: More power in the Setup
2: More power in the jump
3: More power in the spin
4: More power in the kick

keyword: Power.. thats all there is too it.. Jump up.. press your arms to your chest, and turn your head to look in the direction of the spin

hmm, maybe you should watch some of the top rated samplers in the vids section and then compare it with the vid you have posted here in terms of power and aggressiveness. I think you should really drill your basics (which means not only the basic tricks but also the setups! I mean you don't even bend your knees before you want to jump up...).

good luck with that!
