hang from a bar to help with spinal decompression

you should do it every day

focus on lengthening your body and relaxing your midsection
my lower back cracks when I do this

another option to help with back pain is to get one of these http://www.themaroller.com/
it hurts like shit but feels amazing when you get up

How long does the pain stay away after using that type of roller?

Yuri I know this may sound like a stupid question, but on the bar hanging are you suggesting to hang by the feet or hands?

Your upperbody should be heavier than your legs so if you hung by your feet, there would be more weight and tension on your back making it crack and release pressure. For most people, hanging by your hands is easier and gets the job done safer.

the roller is great for your back in general. I use it almost every day

skippy, hanging from your hands is fine, but either one works. hanging from your feet it is hard to hold it a long time, and even harder to relax

they do sell inversion tables for that purpose though

It could be for 2 reasons I could think of. Either you're hyperextending and pinching a nerve, or maybe your spine is flexing and straining the extensors by having them too long.
