hey,
I have been stretching for about four year and i still cannot do the splits or anything else that great.when i was younger i couldnt even touch my knees i was so inflexible.now When im warmed up im decently flexible and it takes me about 20 minuets. I strech for about 45 minuets a day. ive tried basically everything. my mom is also a yoga instructor and can do any stretch easily, so i think i should be able to as well. all my flexibility problems are having tight muscles and tendons. i feel i have not gotten any more flexible about 5 months and nothing is happening. any advice, everyone just says keep streching but its doing nothing and now i feel my hamstrings are and hips are aching so much i can hardly kick.
any suggestions?

Have you read the flexibility section in the main site?

5 months stretching in 45 minute sessions and you feel no progress? Either you have a weird body or you´re doing it wrong.

I used to do nonchamber kicks max 20-30 min a day twice a week and i got my split.Working on the other two splits currently...

Maybe you're stretching your tendons instead of stretching your muscles. That could explain the joint pains.

If your hips are aching, you're probably stretching too much or incorrectly.

Take a week off.

Haha! Four years!? Did you stretch once a year?

Tell us more about your stretching techniques & maybe we could pinpoint the problem.

I would see a chiropractor and check if you have some type of scholiosis, either this or determine if you sit in a chair for like 8 hours a day and are just completely negating your hamstring progression.

Sitting in a chair that long is sort of unavoidable sometimes if you're a student, have a desk job or surf the net... okay the last one's technically avoidable I guess... I mean we could play Diablo doing a horse stance or using a swiss ball I suppose.
