I met Yuri. He happened to be on the platform adjacent to mine at the gym! It was sexy. I shook his hand and complimented his lifting!

Yes. I live in the capital during school, but my home is on the outskirts of the aforementioned city.

This is great! What lifts did you two do today then?

Yuri
Dec-13-08, 05:06 PM
hahaha, yes indeed

I see a rather muss fellow with dirty blonde hair and beard next to me doing rather impressive olympic lifts
it happened to be none other than chicanerous himself. he looked very focused on his training

luckily noone else really used the platforms except for one puny kid trying to do quarter squats

I hit a PR in bent press after not really training it for a long time. got the 142 lbs twice with both hands. I also did some snatches and squats and some random shit. it was a good session, my first time lifting in a few weeks. I am nice and sore today

how was your session chic?
we should do this again sometime while you are still home for break

edit: supper at the dining hall was not too shabby either

Yes. After a while, I happened to glance over and observe a likewise muss fellow with reddish hair, lifting in the manner of the old greats -- just him and a barbell in hand and overhead. It gradually occurs to me that this could, in fact, be Yuri, known as the Baron of TT, but I decide to wait to make contact in order to concentrate on my own workouts as well as further deliberate. With this sufficiently accomplished, I initiate contact and, to my pleasure, this suspicion is confirmed!

Thankfully and yet unfortunately, other than the occasional quarter squatter, the platforms don't seem to get that much use. I always seem to be able to get a platform there and usually my favorite one at that -- the right end one. This is fortuitous, as I really need to pretty much park myself and not leave it for my entire session, so it's almost impossible for me to train effectively without access.

Those bent presses were very nice. All the little children were watching you in awe. :good:

Also, your ice cream makers (I believe that's the name) and handstand holds were quite majestic in the latter portion of the workout.

My session was pretty good. I went C&J, rack jerks, clean pulls, a quick test of my press, and some back accessory. I wanted to go about 5-10 kg heavier on my C&J for a new max, but it wasn't in the cards for the day. My pull felt a bit messy, which is probably due to making the switch to a mirrorless gym, which I prefer using, though the switch is nonetheless slightly disorientating. The jerks went exactly as intended, equaling my PR from the end of the summer for an overall much easier lift than previously (which is great as I haven't lifted more than 78% in that lift since mid-September). I went heavy on clean pulls in order to improve my first pull, as I've been feeling weak directly off the floor lately. Overall an excellent session, however!

I'd be up for that. I'm going to be there 2:30 to 4 or 4:30 PM on Sunday (tomorrow) and then Tuesday and Thursday, probably around 4 or 5 PM for 1.5 to 2 hours, barring any changes to the gym's posted hours. After that, I'll be out of state until Christmas.

The dining hall is quite delicious as far as dining halls go -- at least when I was a student there back in '01-'05. It's pretty cool inside with all the distinguished faculty portraits, pillars, etc. too. I heard they got rid of trays though in an effort to go green, the bastards.

I am glad to hear your session also went well

Unfortunately, I am working today from 12-3, and WRA is a half hour drive from where I am
I also work from 4-8/8:30 on tuesdays and thursdays so I will be unable to make it during these times

some other time perhaps

I usually go eat with my brother there after training, and there are times when it is not bad, and times when the food is not up to my standards. but whatever, I went to public high school and I am not used to fanciness.
it is cool inside. very classy with the wooden tables and all

it is a bit awkward without trays. I am there trying to carry many plates at once. I don't really see how removing trays makes the dining hall more "green" but I guess I'll take their word for it

It'd be cool if you two met again and made an exercise vid together and put it up.
