Anyone know a way to prevent wrist pain resulting from handsprings & masterswipes etc.? Can I prepare for my sessions in any way, or is it all about decreasing impact and avoiding hyper extension? There's three of us and we all have this problem.

Edit: FUCK I just realized that this is not the right sub-forum for this topic. Get som gymnasts over here! Well some of you might have gained wrist pain by doing to many push ups and handstand push ups.

I used to have the problems of hyper extending my wrists from doing to many wrist straining moves.
Take aleast 2weeks off, else you'll just make your problem worse. Pushups shouldnt be a problem they strengthen your wrists, dont do them if you are in pain though, and dont do handstand pushups, there pointless and it is easier to hyper extended your wrist on that trying to land in handstand jumping off a house.
If your feet your wrists getting loose after you've just done something involving your wrist flex, just give them a 2min break and go back to it, constant pressure is what causes you your injury

Ross is the man, but I don't think my problem is weakness. I think it's this:

Or just plain impact stress.

That diagram should have preventative measures to be taken on it.

You have to just try to get your shoulders into it more so they take the majority of the load as opposed to the wrists.

Possibly by shrugging the shoulders like in a press except inverted?

Yeh the shoulders advice sounds about right but to prevent further injuries, invest in some Wrist supports.
Mine use to hurt but i always wear a support now and i cant remember the last time i felt pain in my wrist.

P.s I Tumble Alot!!! So im always on my hands

Possibly by shrugging the shoulders like in a press except inverted? You can practice this in a semi-useful position by doing some of Jujis Scap-pushups found in his Before a training session article,or just hold you arms straight above your head & shrug & then try it whilst in a handstand.

The latter sounds better since doing it with arms forward wouldn't transfer too well to overhead. Some people do trap raises with a barbell overhead rather than at their sides, that'd work.

you could try these:

they are hard.

a lot of exercises work wrist flexion, not too many work wrist extension. I dunno but could help the problem.

I had similar pain to you, and i took some time off and it went away, other than that I dont have any specific tips
