I think this is one of the only laying exercises where you can do a thumbless grip.
Not really sure though.

I used to do skullcrushers with my hand wrapped around the bar, like a pull grip, but it felt heaps awkward on my thumbs.
I then changed to a push grip. Takes away all the pressure on the thumbs :D

i picked the dumbell up like a 'tard and noticed my thumb pointing in the wrong direction haha

I don't really understand how you'd hold it to experience any thumb stress at all, doesn't the weight rest on the pinky edge of the hand? Are you for some reason moving the bar up? Why would you do that?
