IT band related, hamstring related, tendon related, or ligament (maybe lateral collateral) related? You've also still got full range of motion, but it feels tight when you try to bend it all the way. I'd really appreciate any input, I'm kind of worried, thanks!

Not the answer to your question, but you should foam roll it.:good:

I think you can tell if it's related to any of those issues when you go to a doctor and he tells you it is.

Pain on the backside of the knee is usually meniscus related but it could be any of those things you listed really depending on where the pain actually is. If it is on the back like you suggested it's probably not IT band or LCL related, but I don't know anything so don't trust what I say.

could be popliteus, but, unlikely if its just when u bend it- that'd be when you straighten it. Did you hurt it one day or just happened? or started when you started squats?

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it, you all are the shit! It wasn't an acute injury, I don't think, I started noticing it after a session of practicing two-foot-landing slant gainers on a crash mat, I suspect it had something to do with the way I was landing, maybe not being able to spin out of it?

hhmmm, maybe the twisting/forward pressure created by your femur/momentum is stretching ur PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) a little bit. if it's ur right knee? bit of inflammation maybe?
I'm not too sure, just a bit of a guess

How long should I hold or roll on the foam roller for any body area?

How long should I hold or roll on the foam roller for any body area?

Everyone has a different opinion. I like to roll the general area in two parts, 5 times each (5 upper portion, 5 lower) then I like to stop on the tender areas and hold it/wiggle on it for about 5-10 seconds.

I really only roll my IT band and VMO, I think this foam rolling craze its a bit too out of hand.

That's because it's freakin' awesome. I wish I had the space for something like this. Maybe I'll see if the gym or dojo wants to get some. I hear badasses are so tense that they forgoe the foam and roll their muscles with PVC pipe, that's amazing.

Hahaha,the guy in that video.

I'm currently using some Underground PVC pipe for SMR & it's a lot better than foam.

It doesn't take much space for a 3 foot foam roller haha.

Yeah,I have soreness on the back outside of my knee too. Some idiot decided to walk into the end of the barbell I had with 300 odd pounds on my back the other day,it hasn't caused any problems so far.

I have the same pain at the moment, messed it up at a wrestling tournament over the weekend. The trainer told me the miniskus is most likely bruised but if it strats getting locked up like it needs to pop then it could be a torn one. So far I haven't had that happen but its just an annoying little pain in the leg that makes me nervous to do any squats or kicks.

So I just say rest up on it and if not gone after a week or two then go to a doc and get an MRI

Hm, that's true, I probably could fit one... I should just go buy one. Maybe it's that rolling around on it, it seems like you move across the floor so it gives the illusion of space requirements.
