Sure it makes people bulk, but does it give strength as well? I see some fucking huge guys at the gym i go to, but all they do are measly 10kg curls and none compound. The only compound they do is the bench, but the bench is only about 80-90kg, which is what i can do (i dont even take supps).

Is is that they're taking roids?

Dude chances are they are working a shit load more than you (quantity wise)
You do know that guys on juice are perfect eaters and train in the am and pm of everyday?
They might not be trying to do like 80% every session. That stuff could be for a recovery session.

ahh i see.. it might be that i'm always there at the wrong time cuz i see them using the smiths with quite light weights too. hmm but thanks for letting me know that bit more abt roids.

as long as your do it very slowly and keep your musles under the strain of the 10kg curl in this case you're body will grow inmensly

i wonder how many people use roids for like personal use just to look pwetty for their boyfriends haha

I used to have a roid user in my gym he'd get a light case of roid rage when he was training it was fun to watch

I can't work out why people think taking steroids will make your muscles huge with no effort and that you wont be strong at all.

Weightlifters, powerlifters, sprinters, long jumpers, high jumpers, throwers ect all use the same compounds as bodybuilders use. If steroids wouldn't make you strong they wouldn't have a reason to ban it from competitions.

They are considered performance enhancing drugs. I couldn't see them enhancing performance much if they just turned people into big lumps of weak (lol) muscle.

Most people that "juice" (and people that lift weights in general) don't have a clue what they're doing or half-ass all their workouts and diet. Some people train and eat well, and may or may not use steroids.

Don't be a dumbass and get into the habit of making assumptions about people. Roids do not just make muscle grow without hard work, what they mainly do is enhance your feelings of energy and ability to recover faster so that they can train harder and the body adapts faster (along with side effects sometimes, either a tradeoff or happening as a result of ignorance in endocrinology using them).

You may just not happen to see people when they're lifting heavy. Some people do lift heavy, and then lift lighter on other days. Or, they may be 'pumpers' who use very very high repetetions with a focus on sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. (the "fake" muscle Tsatsouline hates, even though that's actually sort of helpful so long as you also get more myofibrils too).

Yes, it gives strength gains. Joints and tendons supposedly fall abit behind though.

the only supporting evidence one needs is their physique

lol I'd like to see somebody manage somehow to develop a huge amount of muscle, but still have the same amount of strength as before they started. Thats ridiculous.

Infact, I'd like to see somebody develop any muscle and remain the same strength, it's impossible.

Slow eccentric bullshit is bullshit. I have no supporting evidence, but I'd be grateful if Rahf endows us both.

Our previous study showed that relatively low-intensity (~50% one-repetition maximum [1RM]) resistance training (knee extension) with slow movement and tonic force generation (LST) caused as significant an increase in muscular size and strength as high-intensity (~80% 1RM) resistance training with normal speed (HN). However, that study examined only local effects of one type of exercise (knee extension) on knee extensor muscles. The present study was performed to examine whether a whole-body LST resistance training regimen is as effective on muscular hypertrophy and strength gain as HN resistance training. Thirty-six healthy young men without experience of regular resistance training were assigned into three groups (each n = 12) and performed whole-body resistance training regimens comprising five types of exercise (vertical squat, chest press, latissimus dorsi pull-down, abdominal bend, and back extension: three sets each) with LST (~55-60% 1RM, 3 seconds for eccentric and concentric actions, and no relaxing phase); HN (~80-90% 1RM, 1 second for concentric and eccentric actions, 1 second for relaxing); and a sedentary control group (CON). The mean repetition maximum was eight-repetition maximum in LST and HN. The training session was performed twice a week for 13 weeks. The LST training caused significant (p < 0.05) increases in whole-body muscle thickness (6.8 +/- 3.4% in a sum of six sites) and 1RM strength (33.0 +/- 8.8% in a sum of five exercises) comparable with those induced by HN training (9.1 +/- 4.2%, 41.2 +/- 7.6% in each measurement item). There were no such changes in the CON group. The results suggest that a whole-body LST resistance training regimen is as effective for muscular hypertrophy and strength gain as HN resistance training.

With that said, my personal preference is to be as explosive as I can. Slow execution is just so damn boring.

Aha Rahf, personally I use explosive movements for warm up but slow movements for the actual exercise, I don't feel like I'm really working if it's quick, especially on the bench press where I just can't feel my chest working at all unless it's slow.

WOOHOOO!!!! CASPER 1-0 YEAH BURN BURN BUUURRRN STILL LOVE YOU MAN!

i like explosive aswell well as slow, for like the big 3 i love explosive training (benching, squatting, dead)

but for the rest of my excersises i try to do them slow.

best of both worlds

Staying whole.
Having fun.

I started out from a pure aesthetic view, gradually changing it as my training has progressed. Who knows, I might even post in the physique thread one day.

Hahaha :] I'm thinking of entirely giving up BB BP for DB BP, I mean I can feel dem der pectoralz going at it but it's a much greater contraction with a DB.

Not even Scott is in that picture if you mean the one with the gold colour scheme. They're all norwegians if I recall correctly.
