Today my mom came in my garage in the middle of me doing max front squatting because she thought I was dying. Do you guys make a lot of noise/grunting/yelling on lifts?

I used to more when I was working out at home but obviously I restrain myself at the gym and keep it minimal as not to look like a complete douche in front of the rest of the gym (because that's really all you're doing by screaming).

I do the same kind of loud I do when I have a shit. Like a sort of displeased forcing grunt.

Hnnnnuhnnhhnhhffghhnnhhnnn

Although sometimes when I deadlift I do somewhat screams like I'm shitting out a pineapple on the last reps of the last set.

I tend to stay pretty quiet while lifting, even when I'm maxing out.

I have a hearty laugh anytime I workout and end up near a screamer.

I sometimes inhale/exhale really loud, but thats when no ones really around xD

Saw this one dude screaming as he lifted, benching 90kgs or something was ok, but like everyone could hear him and his mates were just laughing haha

I kind of grunt sometimes. I think I swore loudly once when I put this massive weight on my back for squatting, and didn't expect how heavy it would be.

I sometimes make embaressing noises. Like squeels and other pussy-ish sounds of torment. I don't scream grunt or huff around on purpose, but sometimes shit happens in pursuit of iron.

I grunt somewhat at the last few reps of a heavy deadlift or squat. There is this guy at my gym that SCREAMS at EVERYTHING he does. Even situps and barbell curls. Every rep usually. It's hilarious.

I just let out whatever noise comes naturally. Usually it's a hissing or grunting noise; one time I ended up growling.

I find that refraining from yelling helps me keep my form; I only tend to yell if I'm struggling enough that my form is compromised.

I've never made a sound before/during/after any lifts!

Just makes you look like a tool imo...

When I used to do rest pause squats the last reps were always real screamers.

Well not pure screams, but between grunting and weird noices.

I kind of agree.

The way i see it, is if someone grunts really loud for everyone to hear, it's his (or her haha) way of saying 'look at me, im lifting this very heavy weight, im awesome". Pretty much just showing off xD

I am pretty quiet and reserved when lifting

I am pretty silent, I even try not to make any weird faces when squatting. Screaming would make me look like that idiot in my gym who makes sounds like his guts are torn out with every rep. I once checked out what he was doing because I expected him to squat 200 kgs to make that sound. Turns out he was doing barbell curls with 20 kgs :eh:

I usually don't make any noise, but I tend to get aggressive.

... as in grabbing the bar hard, explosive movements, stomping the ground sometimes right before deads or squats (above 380).

Other than that, not really.

I stay away from screaming but instead i tend to breath harder and louder

Heavy deadlifts can make me grunt a little. But, I try to keep quiet mostly.

I stomp & scream / shout when need be, or sometimes I lol & shout LIGHTWEIGHT which actually works quite well.

Too many people give a fuck about other people in the gym.

As am I.

My natural sounds may rise with intensity, but I find that any conscious vocalization or increase in volume generally only detracts from good lifting. I can see how certain personalities would gain from it, however.

I do this occasionally -- though it's still "relatively" reserved.

(Nothing like Benedikt Magnusson, etc., for example.)

Either I'm completely silent or I growl before unracking. If it's a very heavy load then I'll just open my mouth wide without really making a sound until I've gone past the threshhold.

uncontrolled power is bad powerMaybe for olympic lifts because you might forget technique, but when you're just trying as hard as possible to stand yourself up (squat), there isn't really a need for much 'control', you just need to do anything that makes you push harder.
