I once saw a girl try aerials for about 4 hours straight at a gym once. She never landed it at all that night.

Augenatic
Jan-31-09, 04:43 PM
girls always aerial because it's not a power move, it's a walkover-ish move.. if you have good flexibility and technique (which trickster girls always have lol) you can easily do it without being all powwerr

Girls should have to do Double Aerials for it to count.

But why do they so rarely have any aerial variations? I don't think I've ever seen a girl even do an Aswitch or an Atwist before.

Augenatic
Jan-31-09, 05:23 PM
for me, an aswitch takes a lot more power than a regular aerial, it's more like a swipe than a walkover, maybe that's why

but i do not know

jan
Jan-31-09, 05:25 PM
Most aerial tricks are power-moves, from my knowledge. I do aerials like a power-move as well, but they don't require much power to "just get through".

That, combined with ginormous hips, is usually a good combo for most chicks.

Augenatic
Jan-31-09, 05:31 PM
yuss exactly
jan i was thinking, how do you think of an aswitch? i have a lot of trouble with getting axe2aswitches consistent, i've landed it once but i was trying an axe2brandy and i accidentally switched lol - i can't do it if i think of doing a switch :(

jan
Jan-31-09, 05:46 PM
Hmmm... I don't know really.

I just kind of think of it as a tweaked sideswipe. I jump straight up, then just try to hammer my leg back into the ground. The main difference between a switch and a normal aerial is the need to go straight up, I think. I also always keep my upper body a little bit angled over my takeoff leg, to get more power from my back when I jump.

And I don't use my arms at all when I do aerial stuff.

Augenatic
Jan-31-09, 05:56 PM
ahh thanks jan ^^ i don't understand the arms things though, i can't imagine doing an aerial without using my arms :agony:

Well, iMo: It's all in the hips. You thrust your hips straight up, use your lower back and concentrate a TON on using your legs.

All I need to do to get around in an aerial is to kick my first leg up hard enough. I usually keep my arms chambered in a guard next to my head. Same goes for bkicks and switches etc...

haha oh yea...I remember the sampler he had with avril lavigne's girlfriend as the background song....it had some preety sick tricks but the front aerial frm tim made me go "oh sht" out loud....im trying to condition my back for this move right now...
plus back flexibilty opens up a ton of move oppertunities as ive recently found out....
stuff like hollowbacks walkovers and continuous handsprings...

hahaha Jan you are just too flexible seriously... you are a man! and the most flexible one I ever seen

I never seen a girl do aerial switch move well, maybe its just because of most of them got gymnastic background... and they didn't got "umph" enough!

wtf of course your arms are involve, but your shoulder and upper boddy are way more needed when its time to switch aerial and stuff, but for direct aerial and straight webster its a lot about groin, hips and lowers back flexibility, no upper body's rotation involve (well... slightly)

Adam Ross
Feb-01-09, 07:53 AM
Gah, most woman don't do variations cause they were just taking their cartwheel to the next level. They start doing back cart-wheels, it goes toa round-off, then one hand, they develop a crazy mind set and go no hands, they feal after that they do not need to level up. That is how a normal girl thinks.
I've never met a trickz girl.

Naturally, all men are stronger than woman provided there is no defects and they all have the same dietary requirements met. This isn't a stupid assumption, it's just the god damn truth haha.

Ofcourse saying all men are stronger than all women is stupid considering all the female O lifters out there.

What I have learned about (some) "tricking" women: They learn/have natural ability to do Aerial, Front Walkover, Back Walkover and in some occasions; Bkick. Then they think it's cool and they do it over and over again, without thinking progressing. It's like a female side of Joe Eigo.

If it was a guy, he'd be placed under category of noob. But since it was a girl, she is under category of cool.

I know I have high expectations for myself and when I have someone pushing be to go farther, it helps. So the next time you see a girl doing just aerials and thinking she's cool, teach her something else. lol

Even if they may be genetically weaker, it doesnt make them less able to trick. I learned a btwist faster than a lot of guys I know who even had martial arts backgrounds. My background is just soccer, basketball, and track. So, I believe it's all about drive. I guess a lot of girls just aren't motivated to trick.

The Obvious

I don't think that female trickers have a problem progressing because of a particular singular flaw [such as lacking strength]. I think that it is a combination of things that generally make our female counter-parts comparitively weaker as trickers...I'm just going to talk about one of them.

Conditioning & Drive

Let's face it, the average female is not properly conditioned for this sport...and I'm not just speaking on a physical standpoint; but on a psychological standpoint as well.

I don't know much about physiology and whatnot, but I'm willing to bet that males and females have different rates of muscle growth. I think that if a male and a female were to do the same amount of work, the male will stimulate more muscle growth out of it, than the female. Once again, I don't know if this is true, but this is what it seems like. Due to this, under normal circumstances [no extra-curricular strength training, muscle atrophy, steroids, etc.], the weakest male is going to be stronger than the strongest female.

Another thing, is that females quickly learn that they're lacking in physical strength...therefore, do not directly depend on it. Instead, they focus on technique and use intuition more than males do. Which is why female rock climbers are the best [as in least likely to die], because they carefully think out their next moves; as opposed to diving in head-first and relying on strength and skill alone.

Much of MAT is simply exploration. There are countless times when you're forced to learn something by just diving head first into it...which is something females just don't do regularly. For example...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheat 720 Twist

Instead of doing what males do:

"Fuck it...I'm just gonna chuck this and see where I end up."

They over think everything, and psyche themselves out:

"I wanna try this, but the landing is so awkward...what if I break my leg and die."

..:: Thinks about how much that would hurt ::..

..:: Develops a mental picture of her clinching her mangled knee, in agony ::..

"I don't wanna die."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is just no way around it, you have to want it enough to risk everything, and most females have problem doing that [unless there is some slow, drawn out process].

Another issue is the way the average female is raised. Unlike the males, who are encouraged to be more physically active, spontaneous, and emotionally detacthed...females are conditioned to be the opposite. They are generally taught that they are inferior to males in those catagories, so they unconsciously focus on everything the typical male is not raised to be...which is graceful, calculating, and emotive [which is why most females trickers, are ex-gymnasts, cheerleaders, dancers, etc.]. The issue is that while they might have experience in similar movements [like flipping, kicking, and spinning], they are too soft and hold on to the frame of the technique too much for it to ever look natural...and something as simple as "chamber" becomes the hardest thing ever.

Braka
Feb-01-09, 06:31 PM
So happy that Sesshoumaru is posting again! whenever he posts in a topic it becomes more legit imo! haha

....and yes this post pretty much sums up why a lot of female trickers aren't as good.

But they can be! no doubt about it!

"I don't wanna die."

That is... exactly on point. XDD That's [I]exactly what goes through my head and why it always takes me forever to even throw a trick, and it's why it took me forever to try tricking in general. Luckily nowadays, I always eventually get over it.

And as for how girls are raised, luckily I always preferred hanging out with boys. =]

tricia....it's not going to hurt that bad, lol

and sessh's post is why some guys take longer than others

they weigh the options and try to get their basics good before moving on...other people (like me) just throw the next level of the trick skipping all the variations in between
