*** Contains biased rant  ***
I'd actually really like to give this a go.
I've done various forms for promotional events and TKD tournaments that have gone down well, however ive never really had longer than 2 weeks to come up with a form or practise one. I'd like to give it a go in 09.
However from talking to people like Phil Campbell (veteran of these events) its pretty pointless to try competing in the UK because you're just not gonna win.
Brian and Ashley Beck are the reasons why.
If you've ever seen Phil Campbell trick, he's fucking flawless. He throws stuff out of nowhere and its always with 100% conviction. However last year he commented that, as with all tournaments, Ashley Beck's dad, Brian, is the chief judge. Phil performed his form perfectly, without fault. When Ashley did his, he blatantly bailed a move and hastily covered it up. Ashley won without contest.
When Phil questioned it, he was told that Ashley won because "he covered up his bail really well". It seems therefore that the final judges call will favour the chief judges son rather than the best competitor.
Does anyone have any additional info on form competitions in the UK?
also, check out this website.
