I like this whole tricking thing, so i'll give it a spin. This is my first shot at [what i think is] a tornado kick after about 10 minutes of research or whatever. Tips appreciated! It won't take long, I promise.

indeed its a tornado kick, and pretty good for just starting. you're actually spotting where you're kicking

Yep it's a tornado kick alright. :good:

Lots of room for improvement though. I won't go into specifics because you'll most probably iron out the flaws yourself just by practicing it.

So I suppose my advice is: Practice it lots!

Tornado kick: drill your cheat setup and drill your rounds and cresents.

work on your cheat setup ie bring your non kicking leg up in the chembered (fully bent) position. It would also help (for future tircks) to throw a round kick and not an inside cresent

^^Once you've got all that down, just use those tips to harness extra power. Really this will come with practice. And as mentioned before, that is a very good first try at tornado. I've taught it many times and sometimes it takes a few weeks for people to get there so keep it up. :)

Looking a lot better than mine were at first! I suggest straightening your legs a bit more, but that's just a personal preference. Some people like whippy roundkicks, I prefer a big swoopy crescent. I find that straighter legs are closer to the feeling of a 540, give it a shot?

(it being straight legs, not a 540...yeeeeeeeet)

Thanks for the tips everyone! Guess i'll get to getting it downpat then.

What makes a good cheat setup? Do I have to lift my non-kicking leg much higher and faster? I see other people's tornado kicks seem much higher and this may be why. Or maybe I just need to jump harder?

A good cheat setup will bring the first leg up high to it full height and then execute whatever trick. Doing this as well as syncing your movements so that your first leg reaches its max hieght as your jumping leg fully extends will drastically increase your hieght.
