Me and Joe could name less than 10 trickers who can triple full (Round off)
but I'm sure some of you guys know gymnasts or cheerleaders or just know your stuff.
I feel like my height and my twisting is ready to land a round off triple full, but I can't seem to stop myself from over-rotating the flipping or stall long enough to get the last half twist in.
What is your advice?

I know what you mean, I've almost died doing Randy's on trampoline cause of this. My thought is that you're torqueing on both axis's at the same time and too much is going into the flip. Or something like that, kinda hard to put into words.

Damnit, I need to go back to the gym and film one.
If It's decently nice outside I'll try some there but we had tornados and storms all day today.
But I have some lazy walking double fulls to share

I can't triple full but I hang around a lot of gym coaches, they usually say keep your shoulders rounded at the set. When you set in a backtuck(maybe not you, but most people) reach their hands back and shrug their shoulders. In big twisting moves(where you need to control the flip in order to twist enough) the set should be with the shoulders more foreward, similar to a high v. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5Olmff4A6A 1:30 See how terrance harrison keeps his shoulders rounded(he doesn't set very well and twists early but controls the flip well) hope this is understandable

It's off axis and crazy looking but still pretty sweet.

yeah, but he doesn't over-rotate the flip and has good control overall, so it serves it's purpose for the point I'm making:juji:

hyper double fulls are not a prereq for triple full.
clean tumbling technique, proper set, and decent core strength i'd say would be a good start.
ben your dubs need cleanin before you start sweatin trips.

I know who scotty is lol, i'm not a caveman. But I don't care who you are, people have been landing triple and quad fulls for decades without ever even finding out what a "hyper double full" is.
triple full is a gymnastic technique. you can't make up pre reqs for it just because " i said so " (scotty didn't do this, but you sure seem to want to speak on his behalf.)

i can do triple fulls on a trampoline (yeah i know not plyo lol) but i'm going to try a front roundoff triple full soon. On the trampoline it works for me to make a slower backflip. So that you have more time to twist the whole thing. Slow backflip+fast twist=land Same backflip as double full+fast twist= overrotating landing on your ass :P haha at least that is what happend to me on the trampoline.. Gonna try front roundoff triple full in about 2 weeks.. will post a vid if i land it. and also if i dont land it haha =D

Still you gotta give credit to trickers finding the easiest possible way to teach and learn advanced moves.
Just because gymnasts have been doing it for ages doesn't mean a hyper double wouldn't help.
(Also, I've never seen a gymnast land a triple full on one leg, let alone s/t it )
Also, FLUFF!! lets have it!

I was joking... lol but really if you did it out of a cartwheel like most trickers its tricking more than gymnastics and it would probably be easier to learn hyper double first out of a cartwheel. But I triple full and dunno how to hyper.

brandon i know what you are saying and this isn't to pick a fight (you know me..i'd rather not )
but i think (and i'm not at all sure on this, lol) that gymnasts have been doing basically the same thing that scott tells us to do but instead of hypering they just do 2.5 which is their substitute for the hyper.

i'm getting a bit sick off all of these "tricker" prefixes for poorly done gymnast tricks !

HAHAHA well, i guess, who gives a shit. People are gunna say what they want and everyone just wants to help add to the tricking! lmfao

Explanation:
A gymnast's roundoff has the purpose of leading directly into a bhs because a gymnast really has no use for just a roundoff by itself in a tumbling pass.
A trickers roundoff has no intention of going into a bhs and thus converts more of the kinetic energy into the motion itself.
EXAMPLE TIME!
Look at Luke Broadlick's roundoff in this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXPYh6nDQpI&feature=channel_page
You'll notice how close to the ground he gets, and how much he bends his arms. (Anis and a few others do this)
It would be awkward for Luke to tack on a bhs at the end of this (Which is what makes it different from a gymanst roundoff)
Now look at a gymnast roundoff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBaKEw63-qI
His arms are straight during the round off and his head remains the same distance from the floor.
When trickers were/are taught how to do roundoffs, they were taught or passed down from gymnasts or tumblers who all used the bhs.
You can use a gymnast roundoff and still get great results, but it wasn't until relatively recently that trickers (Who for the most part have no need for the RO BHS pass) started Altering their ROFFS for more power.
MORE EXAMPLES!!!!

LUKE CAN TRIP FROM A WHIP THUS HIS "KINETIC ENERGY" DOESN'T NEED ELBOW BENDING TO DO ANYTHING FOR HIM !!
this is rubbish of course, you can do any move from any type of roundoff if you do it properly. it is possible to triplefull or dub layout, whatever from a straight arm roundoff and it is possible to have a powerful bhs out of a "tricker roundoff"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tp-PKBL-3H8 oh noes, gymnasts not doing bhs out of roundoff, it's the end of the world
of course gymnasts use roundoff passes all the time, their roundoff was not designed to lead into bhs, it was designed to transfer forwards momentum into backwards momentum, but in the world of gymnastics bent arms equals deductions

But he couldn't always.
There is a reason why he learned it using his style of roundoff first.
(The same reason why people learn to doubleback with cowboys more often)
Because it's a lot easier

Your intentions are good.
But if I may,
LOOK AT THEIR ELBOWS!!!
(although not as exaggerated as luke or anis, they do bend and they would have trouble adding a bhs to those)
When you bend your elbows it's almost as if you're chambering, because you push against the ground forcing your upper body to snap upwards at a faster rate than normal. You physically just can't do this motion when you have a straight arm roundoff
i think you're seeing someone reaching long and low for their round off as bending at the elbows dude
Flowers

Think about the physics behind it tho,
When you bend your arms, it means you can extend your arms which snaps your upper body upwards faster and thus brings your feet to slam the floor faster (Thus harder) thus giving you more force upwards
You just can't do this with straight arms

this.
edit:
Also, everyone bends their arms at least a little on this, straight arms would be dangerous. The effect of bending your arms more or less is relatively negligible in terms of outcome of your roundoff (there is only one,) it depends on how well you're balanced & how well you are able to punch out of it.
dont try to talk to alexx about physics, he has the full backing of tom.

Well yes this is obvious, but they don't bend them to the extent that Anis or Luke does, and their is a reason.
Though, it doesn't matter how much logic or sense I make now that Dan Perez has said his piece haha. (Dan Perez is the sessh of 08-09)

Towels, "tricker RO's" aren't really more powerful. Power tumblers do double layouts of of them in the beginning of a pass.
