I have always wondered, how do you hold kicks in the air or work on reaching that point. I have nice kicks that are rather high, my only problem is that I cant hold them that high. After unleashing the kick, my leg instantly retracts back into position making me unable to re-kick. Because of this I cant perform multi kicks. Can anyone help me?

Practice practice practice practice.

Stretching stretching stretching.

Even more practice.

I will also note this will have little to know impact on your kicking tricks, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it if you want to.

Exactly what Skilz said.

Slow motion kicking.
and a lot of it.
So grab a wall and just hit a few sets of 10-15 slow motion kicks [do 3 sets of 15 sidekicks, backkicks, frontkicks, hookkicks, whatever]. make sure you are chambering properly, getting full/long extension, proper foot position in both feet, chest up, clean lines and so on.
and do it every day.
preferably after your normal kicking routine because your legs will be burning after slow motion kicking if you did it right.

everything they said.

the more you practice the better you'll get them.

its just building those muscles, and the only way to work them out is to keep drilling them in slow motion like jon said.

What Jon P said is exactly what they do at my karate school, I reccommend it
